So, if you don't reset, and run the car for several tankfulls, you may see a higher average, based on the type of driving. If you reset after every tankfull, you will see either a higher than "normal", or lower than "normal" reading, depending on if you start off in stop/go traffic, or highway driving.
Agreed.

Seems like almost everyone who posted in this has a zero understanding on how it works.

It all sounds normal to me.

Bought the car on 4/28/13, installed the Airaid on 9/13/13 and no issues since. To be honest, I thought the mileage read out was kinda fun at first. Then I started to really get into it and tried to get the best mileage I could. Then my wife says "mileage, schmileage, you've got a Mustang, drive the damned thing already!" Good advice, turned the damned mpg read out thing off and it's way more fun now. I mean, I didn't by a Prius, I bought a friggen Mutang! So, I check my trip mileage at each fill up, but that's about it, just to keep an eye on things. My combined average is about 20-23 mpg. If I take a road trip, my highway has been around 30-31 mpg. Heck, it gets better mileage than my wife's 2010 Honda CRV 4 banger and I keep it in perfect condition. Sorry for the long answer, just had to go there I guess

Just turn the Gage on the dash to something else and don't worry about how many miles a gallon your getting. You will find out you will enjoy driving your Mustang and driving the way you like instead of lightfooting it to see if you can save a couple of dollars a tank. I use 87 octane and drive like I like too and average around 24 to 26 combined. ( Traffic & Highway ) I find I enjoy my Mustang much better not worrying about MPG.
Ronnie
I'm happy you listened to your wife. Now, Do you not enjoy your Mustang a lot more?????

I will call Airaid. But still, after shelling out $300 bucks of which they most certainly profited the meat of, I think even a generic email reply would have been nice. I won't recommend their product to anyone for that reason.

First off, they are in it for a profit, only way they can stay in business.
Second, it is a very good product, one of the best out there.
Third, for all you know their email server may be down.
Fourth, I just don't know what else to tell ya

Well. The GREAT news is I bought a used tuner at a very fair price. I am waiting for my first tune from MPT! I ordered a 93 performance street tune!! Man I can hardly wait!!!! Maybe in combination with the Airaid CAI I'll see an improvement. But mostly I just need to shut off my OCD!

Good for you, if you didn't see some improvement I would be totally surprised. Let us know how it works out. I'm very interested as I'm on the fence between MPT, Steeda, and Bama tunes. Keep us posted

I felt the same way! You wont be disappointed. Do a little driving before you install the tune, and it'll be a whole new car after
