totalled or nahhh?

I was in an accident last week, still waiting to hear if it is totalled or not. My dad bought me my mustang brand new 2014 .... I had it only TWO MONTHS to the day until a man pulled right out in front of me. The speed limit on the road we were on was 55mph, I didn't have time to stop. I only have injuries from the airbags and a fractured collarbone from the seatbelt. I'm more upset about my brand new car being ruined than anything else. Also, my iphone 5 was bent and now the screen is coming out.

OUCH!!!
Im glad that you're going to be OK.
Yeah, I think that your car is totaled.... Hopefully anyways. You don't want it back after a hit like that. It will never be the same.
Claim the iphone as damaged personal propery, the insurance company will more than likely pay for it. Also, make sure to get a good settlement for your personal injuries.
A nice insurance check will ease the pain of all of this.

Take another look at the driverside headlight.

Dibs on the tail lights haha. But seriously, I'm sorry to see this. Definitely looks like a total loss from the photos. Airbags deploying usually adds a good chunk of change to the repair total.

Cars, iphones, and any other property goods can be replaced. You, cannot. Glad to hear you're alright, with only some minor bruises.

I agree with an earlier post. Get some Meguiars wax and youre good to go....

Seriously though, Id say totalled for sure. Now a days it doesnt take much to get a car totalled, but to me this one is a no doubt'er.

Yeah, it looks totaled. Just make sure you get all the money you're owed from the other guy's insurance. They will send you a settlement letter for you to sign agreeing to the amount and releasing the other driver from liability. Make sure you work with your insurance company to get what you deserve. Also, make sure your insurance company is advocating strongly for you. It is their responsibility to get you everything you are owed, but unfortunately some will just tell you to take the offer, and won't work hard for you. With what you get back, you should be able to buy another mustang with no problem.

Sorry, about the new car.Glad your gonna be okay.
I would say it is a write off.

Sub frame is probably bent and it being brand new,
you should push for a new car.If they fix it,
your car will loose trade in value.

Okay well at least Ur okay. If it's totalled.......you should part out with stuff. That way u can get some money back on top of the insurance. Sell the headlights, taillights, decklid, etc. I'd buy the taillights if Ur selling...

I would not part out without talking to the insurance company. Likely the insurance company will not give you the same amount for your car with everything than they will without some of that stuff. You may end up with less money overall if you just part out.

The driver who hit me was driving a hertz rental car, they self insure all their drivers. I would definitely not advise anyone to use hertz ever. They are a TERRIBLE company and are complete ********. The most unhelpful people I've ever dealt with.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. At least your would will heal ! I'm afraid your vehicle will not, if the damages include both your doors and entire front end prognosis is not good to return to roadability.

That's a real shame. I am learning as I grow older that the vast majority of companies are complete ******** and it requires moving mountains to get anything accomplished with them. Hopefully you have a good insurance company that will do a good job advocating for you. I would not recommend dealing with Hertz yourself, but have your insurance company advocate for you. If you are not happy with the answers you are getting, don't be afraid to get a lawyer involved. If nothing else, I technically worded letter from a really good lawyer will get things moving.

Yeah it's probably going to be totaled. I would contact a lawyer if the insurance company starts to get picky with their payout.

if I were you, I would hope that its totaled. I had a similar wreck in my 2004 and it was not totaled, and not only did it drastically affect the value of the car, it also never, ever, was the same again... best of luck to you! make sure that insurance company treats you right!

Well there is a "Bright Side". You weren't injured seriously. The Stealership will be happy when you go back in and buy another Mustang.

Brings up a question, most likely a stupid one but what the heck. If you were to total a Mustang with any mods would there be any hope of getting any money from those if they were damged? Exhaust, intake, etc.?

No, unless you add those on your insurance. Often insurance companies will let you insure some aftermarket parts for a little extra.

Except for certain circumstances where you actually have an appraisal for a "customized" car, the insurance company will only reimburse you for the highest book value of the vehicle. In the case of a heavily modded car, it is your responsibility to provide adequate coverage via your own insurance company if you feel the vehicle warrants the additional coverage.
Normally, insurance companies don't mind replacing aftermarket parts, in minor collisions, because they are generally less expensive than factory replacements.
But if the car gets totalled and you have to deal with someone else's insurance company, prepare yourself for a long uphill battle to recoup any of your "mod money"...

I have State Farm and they will re-reimburse me for any mods Ive done as long as I have receipts. My daughter had an accident and totaled her car and 2 weeks prior she had bought tires, State Farm reimbursed us for those.

There's a pretty big leap from tires being a "mod" to something like headers, exhaust, new headlights etc etc. Not surprised they replaced the tires but in most cases like those above have said, if you don't declare them and pay extra they generally won't cover them.

I'm actually surprised they reimbursed the tires. I figured they would have just said it was regular maintenance.
