Next mod decisions

So I have some money together for my next mod(s).
I am torn over whether to get:
BBK shorty chrome headers $299.99
or
SR strut tower brace $159.99 & JLT oil seperator $119.99

Anyone with either that can chime in on whats the better purchase? Thanks!

I have bbk shortys and love them. I do recommend getting the ceramics instead of the chromes however

All of these parts are great for different reasons. It's hard to say if one's more important than the other. If it were my car, I'd run the SR STB and oil separator. Mostly because I'd prefer the handling upgrade and the oil separator is just nice to keep oil out of the combustion chamber.

The BBK shorty headers are pretty sweet too. Although, I suggest upgrading the mid-pipe if you're going to install them. In order to see the most benefits from the free-flowing exhaust!

Lastly, another good handling upgrade is Lower Control Arms. They really help plant the rear tires evenly to the pavement!

For what reason the ceramics over chrome besides the discoloration of the chrome over time? The heat difference is so minor it's not worth the $100 difference IMO.

I was looking at the Ford Racing cut and clamp X pipe to go with the BBk shorty's, since I live in NY and the emissions regulations are very strict. Could I put the headers on and then a few weeks later put the x pipe on or vice versa?

I just installed the mac ceramic shorties and the heat difference is more than just a little. I let my car get to running temperature then was able to bump each header bolt for tightness. The temperature is alot cooler than the stock manifolds. After doing the install and seeing how close the ac compressor and starter is to the headers I'm glad I choose the ceramics. $60 more is worth it.

If you want power, the headers will be good. You don't HAVE to pay for the ceramic coated ones. If you're worried about heat and don't mind how they look you can buy the coating and do it to your heart's content:

Tech Line Coatings Black Satin Ceramic Header Coating, 4 Oz. - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop

The SR strut tower brace is a nice piece. It's one of my most recent mods. I chose it for two reasons: 1) It's the most rigid I could find. Connects to all 8 strut studs and is cross-reinforced. and 2) I just like the looks. The other options look flimsy in my opinion.

The handling difference is nice too. Takes corners like a champ on otherwise stock suspension. Slightly less "hop" from bumps as well.

Yes, you can install the Xpipe and BBK headers whenever you like. They don't have to be at the same time or in any order. The Ford Racing cut and clamp Xpipe is after the factory catalytic convertors, so it's easy to get to at any time. It doesn't matter if the headers are installed or not.

I'd get the headers. Also, if you wanted to, you could get a strut tower brace off craigslist for around 65 bucks, thats what I did, but with a boss strut tower.
