Manual trans question.

OK so has anyone with a manual trans experience this or know what it could be? It happens only sometimes but when the clutch is to the floor and I'm stopped I'll put it in gear and get a "thud"!? Any ideas?

The stock 2-piece driveshaft tends to have a lot of play in it. That may be what you're hearing

Maybe, but with the clutch push in all the way I'd think there shouldn't be any torque on it.

Ah good point. I think I missed that part of your first post. Not really sure then.

If you're talking about the transmission kinda thunking into gear, mine does that too at times. I think it's due to imprecise alignment of the remote shift box and it binds the shifter arm.

Its when the clutch is fully pushed to the floor and as soon as I put it in a gear I'll get a thud, its almost like if you were to put in a gear and let the clutch out quickly and you get a thud, but this happens when the clutch is completely pushed in??!! Feels like something is engaging in the transmission ( torque ) when nothing should be.

If you are in neutral with the clutch out the front half of you transmission is turning, when you push the clutch in if the transmission does not come to a complete stop before putting it in gear you will get a thud when you do. That is the same reason they put clutch brakes on larger transmissions in the big trucks to prevent grinding to get in gear.

I actually did a test because I thought that's what was happening. I stopped at a red light, put it in neutral and waited about 10 seconds then put it in first with the clutch to the floor and thud. Most of the time its fine, could that be it? It definitely feels like that's what's happening.
