Exhaust or new grille

Deep thoughts by jack handy.
I have the green light to drop $200 ( Father's Day). I could score a set of used Roush axle backs or I could buy the cdc grille. Do I go the grille route and hold off on axle backs? I have read over and over the Roush is just loud, even those who like them say they are loud. And the grille is just bad arse.
It's a win win situation, I get new stuff but are the a/b really worth $200? It does not help I have not heard the a/b in person.
Poll on what you would do. And it's $200 no more (says the boss).

Dude get the grill, its much more bad arse! Roush is just too loud for a 6 cylinder, you will be better off with a borla s/magnaflow streets. And if youre on a budget, get magnaflow's universal mufflers (about $80 a piece, they're the exact same units used in their street series). Use inlet pipe and tips from your stocks.. Voila you've a sick exhaust for $200 including labor!

I'd say grille too. Personally, I wouldn't use the rousch ab, way to loud and will have a lot of drone.

I did both lol, but if your OK with loud go with the Roush! BTW drone is nowhere near what some say, I speak with a 1 1/2 years with them.

I've never thought about doing the muffler itself. Brothers performance is a mile from my house, perhaps I might just shoot by there and see what they would charge for the whole setup.

I agree, had mine for about 8 months and love them. They are loud, but a good load. I don't notice any drone. Not loud unless you want them to be. Go with the Roush.

Yeah it wouldn't cost you more than 60 bucks just to swap/weld your new mufflers on. Add to that the price of new universal ones - $160 and youre golden.

Great idea to use the inlet/outlet tubes from the stock mufflers...just remember to factor in the welding costs to have this done (unless you have the skillsets yourself).

I had a muffler shop weld the inlet pipes from my stock mufflers to a set of GT500 mufflers. After laying down $200.00 for the GT500's it cost me an aditional $80.00 to have a muffler shop weld the inlet pipes on, and they even installed them!

How do you like your Roush ABs? I am really looking hard at getting them and just looking for some input from v6 stang owners who have them.

Under 3k they are relatively quiet and very manageable. At wot you'll sound like a bad *** race car! If your OK with race car sound at wot you'll love them!!! Highway drone is not bad and now with my 3.73s its non existent.

If you can get a used set of Roush AB for 200$ go for it! Not only is that 269$ below cost but they have already been broking in. If your O.K with loud then IMO its a steal!

So just stopped in at brothers performance. They said not only the weld from the inlet and tip would be hard, but you would also need to cut out the hangers on the stock muffler. Basically the muffler would be cheaper than the labor. I'm going to wait on mufflers and hold out for a used pair of gt500's. CDC grille for now.
On a side note brothers performance was super helpful, if your in Florida stop in!

I love my Roush Axlebacks, but only because I have the BBK shorty headers on too. It is deep and loud, but I have gotten nothing but amazing compliments. Even my Chevy/Camaro/Corvette friends say that it is what a real muscle car should sound like.

That would be an awesome deal but aren't the pypes even louder and wilder than roush? I leaned toward not buying the roush due to the fact I live by people and like my neighbors

Will, those short tune headers will actually deepen and quiet those roush and it will sound nice I have the bbk short tune headers. My pypes sound awesome! But I am a major fan of borla.. Especially the stingers..

Here is a sound clip of the pype bombs, IMO my video does the pypes no justice

No it will deepen the tone and keep it consistent. Before my exhaust was all over the place but my short headers deepens the tone and made it sound super mean.. And on too of that you will feel the added power across the whole RPM band.. At take off and on highway you can feel the headers at work.. IMO they are worth it.. My take off got a lot better with the torque..

If you buy short headers buy the Mac short tune headers, my bbk were a joke.. Yes they get the job done but they came rusted with splatter.. And the design is harder to install.. Customer service blows lol Mac is new but man I wish I went with them they are growing fast.. And their design is easy to install yourself.. Ceramic is nice but if your on a budget the chrome will do, I am on a budget lol I got the chrome Click image for larger version
