How to launch?

Hello my 3Point7 Cycloners! I've been wondering how to launch in our vehicles but wasn't sure how to do it the right way, I've tried searching on youtube, no luck.

I know you kinda have to play around with it and find a certain rpm I believe. I have an auto trans.

I've been told by a gto owner that you have to hold the brake, find the sweet rpm spot then, let go of the brake and don't floor the pedal until you've shifted unto second. Any ideas would be appreciated so I can learn how. Thanks! V6 PWR!!

With an auto you should be able to hold the gas wide open and the brake and not do a burnout. 2013/14s you can any way. Especially on a drag strip just floor both pedals and dump the brake.

The speed at which you shove the accelerator down varies on a lot of things: hp, grip, gears. You basically want the tires on the verge of breaking loose so you get maximum traction. As long as you don't break them loose, you can give it gas faster.

I think he's talking about the 2013/2014 where the RPMs won't go any higher than 2000 RPM while doing a power stand, no matter how far you mash the gas.

I know tunes can cancel this. Do you know if the FRPP tune can?

That I don't know. I only know that on a stock tune 2013/2014 Ford no longer allows you to get the RPMs up to do a power stand. Even turning off Advance Trac and Traction Control. I have a 2012, but I did read that Ford did this on the 2013/2014s. I think I might have first looked that up last year when I tried on my 2012 and found that mine did the same unless I turned off Advance Trac and Traction Control.

Basically is just hold down the brake plus press the gas pedal to the desired rpms then let go of brake & hit the gas all the way!
Getting a good/perfect launch tho takes practice! U have to play with the rpms & find your sweet spot where ur giving it as much gas pedal as u can without spinning the tires!
When I had my 3.7 tune & CAI only I had the best launch at about 2.5-3k rpms.

I wouldn't figure you would be worried about cops at the track. Because that's where you're testing it I assume. Cough. Cough. Lol

1. First gear

2. Hold break

3. Hold gas until 2,000-3,000 rpm

4. Let go of break

5. Shift 2, 3, D

When dragging, you let the car shift unless you have a manual valve body on the automatic. The car will shift better and more consistent than you ever will.
