RPM's with 3.55's and a tune.

Hi ladies and gents,

I'm a new Mustang owner so please forgive me for any ignorance of mine. I picked up a 2014 V6 automatic a couple months back and as of now I have the 3.55's, aluminum DS, and a Bama tune(91 hybrid) with cold air intake. I recently discovered the 'S' mode on the shifter. With the hybrid tune letting the 'S' mode do its thing is really fun in the city, but obviously the RPM's are too high for the freeway. Lately though I've noticed on the street from launch they feel like they are getting even higher. Am I imagining this?

This weekend I had to go back to 87 octane so I put the street tune back on. While using the 'S' mode with the street tune if I really gun it from a stop it revs into the 4000's and goes crazy. Is this normal? I don't want to cause any damage.
Feels like the car eats through the power band in no time at all. I like the S mode because it removes all lag. With the hybrid tune especially it feels amazing. Also, I am not using the + and - buttons. Anyone care to share their experiences?

So it rev's past 4,000 rpm's?

Pretty normal. It should be revving to 7000 rpms.

It's normal, sport mode easily jumps RPM'S, and holds them higher before shifting.

Completely normal to have high RPM shifts.. With my setup when I smash the gas it will rev between 6-7kRPMs and it sounds like a beast lol I've heard (I may be wrong) that the V6 has the most power in the high RPM band..

I would recommend you play with the "+-" it is so much fun! You can really feel the pull of each gear.. I enjoy it.. The car auto downshifts for you so even if you have never driven stick it's only a matter of going through the gears.

These guys have all pointed you in the right direction. It sounds like what you're experiencing is completely normal. Sport mode is known to hold the higher RPM's.

If you have any questions at all feel free to give the Bama team a call. They'd be glad to shed some further light on this for you. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!
