$10 worth of "bulk oil"/filter and literally 5 minutes to check/top off the fluids and peek at the meat on the pads. What happens when over 90% of people can't even find the hood latch.
That's the world today. Folks are too busy talking and texting on those electronic gadgets they have super glued to their hands.... no time to get out and wash their own car, or do some simple fluid checks, or others on an automobile.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
