A new first time Mustang Owner..

Hello,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a first time Mustang owner. I have owned imports and Europeans all my life. I recently purchased a used 2011 Mustang v6 base model convertible. I am loving this car more than any other car that I have had the opportunity to drive. The feeling of putting the top down and feeling the cool west coast sea breeze as you take a drive down the coast is one of the best feelings I have ever felt. I have already gotten some slack and hate comments for not buying the typical import or BMW from my family and friends. I guess I just didn't want to drive another Honda Accord or some typical 3 series BMW.

I hope to eventually own a v8 later on down in life. Perhaps when I make more money. I hope to learn a lot from this group. I have always been into modding cars also but usually it was just my teenage days of fart cans and noise makers with too many flashing lights. Thank god those days are over. I look forward to hearing from some of the members. I hope you are all having a good fathers day.

Welcome.

I agree with your love for these Mustangs. Ford did a great job with them.

I was in a slightly different situation. I'm from the Metro Detroit area and I drove an e46 330i for about a year and a half. Its may dads car and he let my drive it until i found something i wanted. All of my friends gave me crap for it because it wasn't built down the street. However I recently got a 2013 v6 mustang and i must say it was the best decision i could have made. Really glad to be apart of the american muscle culture now.

My goodness there are a ton of aftermarket parts for this car. I dont even know where to begin. Its too bad I live in the no fun state and will get a ticket for the slighteset modification.

My wife still drives her 3 series BMW, but even she has confessed that the Mustang we also own (2011) is "fun", and at one third the price!

Next time your BMW family gives you grief, just remind them of the cost per car; it usually clams them up!

Me and European cars never had any good luck. I drove a 325i e46 and a clk430 and it was electric gremlins galore. Just to have the car serviced and repaired was a crazy drain on my wallet.

About your friends and family

I know they are probably really good, nice, friendly people.
*****************************BUT*******************************************
Apparently they are not true "CAR PEOPLE" or they would probably not rag you on buying a Mustang. They are mis-informed if they think any car is better then another. I have had foreign cars and did like them a lot. My last car was a Mini JCW that I tracked and I did Belong to a Porsche Audi Club.
Now that I don't track anymore I joined a Mustang club as well as a Muscle car club. These clubs are both very active and the events and cruises keep me busy and happy.
Find a Mustang or Muscle car club in your area and join, It will open another world for you. That way you can get away from the closed minded stuffed shirt non-car people that you know and make plenty of new friends.
My personal opinion is a car is just a car ---"A MUSTANG is A MUSTANG and hard to compare to anything else. I'm not saying "BETTER" but they are different and more enjoyable.

Your Mustang is great looking and I'm sure your gonna love it for a long time.
Ronnie

I agree with Ronnie. Also between Cali members on here and clubs out there, you will probably find out lots you can do when it comes to mods that you can get away with. Like a tuner/gear combo will make it so much more aggressive when you touch your pedal that mpg will probably go down from even more spirited driving.

Looking forward to seeing more pics of her. Don't hesitate to post them. We are all a bunch of Mustang geeks who gets excited to see folks get just as crazed as we are about our Mustangs
