Roush chin splitter installed!

Just got the roush chin splitter from am installed. This should be factory on mustangs it looks badass. Much more aggressive. I also removed the front license plate and exposed two holes that the dealer drilled..... Anyone got an idea how to cover those up?? I will be getting stripes soon but until then I need to do something. What do y'all thinkClick image for larger version

It does help the front a lot! I just don't like how you have to cut up and reuse the factory piece!

I think you have to reuse the factory piece on most chin splitters. Looks good man! Here's a pic of mine. Click image for larger version

Mine did not. Maybe try filling them with some kind of white glue or caulk. That way you could pop it out if you ever needed to. But mine did not come with that so I'm not sure

Guys, those look awesome! Started mine last night. What did you all use to cut the factory one? Will a dremel work or do I need to stop at HF for an air saw?

I bought a set of plugs for my bumper from bumperplugs.com they are a perfect colormatch. They arent cheap but they saved me from running around looking for plugs and buying paint. And be carefull with that chin splitter. I saw a thread where one ripped off at high speed. Lots of downforce occurs on that area with only being attached to flimsy plastic its subject to disaster.

Roush chin splitter installed!

Roush really stands behind their products and if this thing flies off, personally, Id say that it wasnt installed right. Dont forget, this is the same part number that gets installed on every 13/14 Roush mustang.

I have a store credit at AM and Im considering getting this lip. What has to be cut? I was reading some of the reviews and a few people have said they didn't cut anything off, is this some thing that seems possible?

You have to make a cut on the stock splitter.. Watch this video and you will see step by step. I didn't even look at the directions roush provided.

I would still cut your existing lip even if you didnt really have to. Seems to make the roush one more solid. I will probably butcher mine but am gonna try anyway. Thanks for the links guys!

The reason you need the factory lip is the roush splitter ends along the front bumper and ends on the bumper... The factory one has a piece of plastic that goes up by your tire and screws in by your front wheel. That is the only reason...

Here is my temporary license plate plugs. 69 cents at lowes..lol Click image for larger version

Mustang Roush Front Splitter Installation 2013-2014 - YouTube

Good video. They do this on the 2013. Does anyone know if it's exactly the same for the 2012? They redesigned the front fascia in between, so I wonder if it's all the same down there. Especially the cutting part.

Not sure. I would imagine that they are different as the front ends are not the same. May be close.
There should be instructions with the spoiler. You might be able to even find them online beforehand to compare.
I installed one on my '14 and it certainly makes a huge difference in the way it looks. Go for it!

I would love to have this part, but I'm not a fan of having to cut up my original one. You'd think for the price you pay that it would be a simple bolt-on piece.

From what I've read I think this particular splitter is only for '13 and '14s. The Stillen chin splitter is the only one on American Muscle that works with '12 v6s. And I don't think that one requires cutting the stock one.

I wasn't big on cutting the original either, however I didn't want yet another stock part lying around in my garage. At least I got to use it. Don't know if the other brands allow you leave the stock one on.

I know this is an old thread but I installed my roush splitter without cutting the stock one. Had it on for almost a year now with no issues. The inner fender is just missing the two bolts but other than that it's completely ok

I'm guessing the inner fender is missing two bolts because they no longer line up. Would you mind posting some pics I'd like to see what the finished product looks like

Looks exactly the same. The inner fender bolts aren't there because the original splitter wasn't used but that's the only difference

That's where the stock splitter would have bolted up. The roush one bolts up without an issue. I'm actually considering selling my front splitter so if anyone's interested let me know
