V6 vs. GT headrests

I'm looking to swap out my cloth seats for leather and have found a set taken off a 2013 GT convertible. I was told they would fit my 2012 V6 convertible if I have the larger headrest foam.

I am wondering if the GTs have larger headrest foam than the V6s? That doesn't make sense to me but want to make sure before I buy.

The headrests on V6 and GT are the same but there was a change in the headrest mid model year '12.

Hmmm, okay. That may be what he was referring to. Would checking the production date on my vehicle help figure that out?

Did this change have to do with the headrest being able to tilt? The early ones (like my 2011) do not tilt back or forward on the front seats.

Found this picture online-

The new larger headrest is on the left, the 2011-2012 headrest is on the right. They are shaped differently so it's easy to tell which one you have.

Thanks! That really helps. Just by looking, I see that I have the larger headrest, so the seats should fit. Think I'll be upgrading soon.

You might also check to see if the rear headrests are the same on the coupe and the convertible.

You might find the pricing is better on coupe takeoff leather compared to the same from a convertible. I bought a new leather set of take-offs for $350. If the rear headrests are different, you may not have that option.
