Gears is biggest bang for your buck. Just pick whatever you want based on mileage concerns and speed. Most I'd go with myself is 3.73, but 3.55s are a good compromise for a commuter. If you're a 2.73 guy like me, even 3.31s would rock your world. Lol

Grab yourself the 4.1's you'll be like a little kid on Christmas. Your gas mileage will suffer, but hey, you drive a Mustang not a Prius.

If you go boosted, you'd want to go with 3.55s instead of 3.73s. Something to think about for future plans. I'd be a 2.73 gal with you, but I don't think the title suits me.

Auto or stick?

i'm more concerned of the wear on the engine with those high RPMs constantly... is this a legit concern or would it really not be that bad? plan on keeping this pony around for a while, unlike my last 4. and engine swap is not in the near future plan with only 14k on my odometer.. lol

If it was me I would get the 3.73's. Luckily I got my car with the 3.31's out of the factory. Mine's an auto DD and the 3.73's would be perfect, 4.1's would be too much.

It's all a matter of opinion. 4.10's would be just fine on a DD it just comes down to what the OP is comfortable with.

so is the MPG the only thing really negative about getting the 4.10s?

Do not get 4.10s on a manual. Way too much shifting with our six speeds.

When you're boosted, longer gearing helps you get more power down and not wasting time on shifts. You'll also have traction issues and less gear will help that too. Our transmission also has a steeper first and second gear compared to the 5.0 manual trans. Something else to consider.

Agree with 3.73 gears. Also, rear lower control arms would be good.

4.10's manual here. Over 600 hp also. Not one traction issue. 8000 Redline. Proper suspension setup / tire setup is key.
So if a v6 is set up right you won't have a problem

I have 3.55 gears in my manual trans and I love it. Get close to the same gas milage and as the 2.73 and the shifts are the perfect length apart. That's just my opinion. Also my next mods I want are aluminum driveshaft and flywheel so I can drop some rotational mass and get a stronger launch and a better throttle response. Plus I've heard you get a little better mpg. I've also read from a few people here that the driveshaft and flywheel are worth every penny. I guess I'll find out and update when I do it!

+1 on the 4.10s. I recently had 3.73s installed (manual) and IMO that's the Max anyone should go with these tranny's.
