Sound. X-pipe is better as scavenging for horsepower, h-pipe is supposed to have a deeper tone.

I really wouldn't worry about exhaust too much past the headers. Your car comes factory with an x-pipe.

It's mostly all sound. You may be able to get a few extra HP with headers and a tune, but nothing to write home about. The off-road pipes give you a little bit more HP I believe but they sound super raspy (From what I have read on here) and don't have cats, which could be illegal depending where you live. I got myself a Ford racing x-pipe and I am installing it once my mustang has its hood re-painted and vinyl striped.

i'm trying to stay away from raspy. cats do not matter where i'm at. but if there's no increase in HP, i'd rather not do it... so could i do shorty headers with stock x?

Yes you can do shorty headers. I would recommend ceramic ones over chrome, they hold up better to engine heat, and the chrome gets discolored almost immediately. I have heard good/bad things about BBK, mostly the chrome ones. I have heard good things about the MACs but they are new. I would say do some research on MAC vs. BBK ceramic headers and pick either or. I just saw a new thread someone bought bigshows headers and is putting them in.

I have the BBK's. I bought them used and they were chrome. They still look ok but Ill most likely paint them any way. The thing with the BBK is that they are 50 state legal. For people like me who live in Cali this is a big deal.

X = rasp H = deeper tone ... X has more hp gains on high RPM's H pipe has good gains at the lower RPM's.. I recommend an H pipe.. I am in your same situation deciding between mid pipes.. I would go with an MRT catted H pipe or go with a MAC chambered H pipe if cats are of no importance with you. This set up will sound beast..

My performance mods bbk intake bbk short tune headers bama 93 Race tune borla stingers - MRT pipe is being delivered..

Oh one last note.. Don't go bbk for short headers lol.. Mine came rusted.. The gaskets were mangled.. I re-used stock gaskets.. And they were such a pain to install. I hear macs are a lot easier..

I couldn't tell much from your 9 second video...

When you started to walk toward the back of the car it did sound a little "weird".

I have BBK LT headers with the catted x-pipe with borla- s type. Sounds great for normal driving but when you get into it, its very raspy.

I've noticed that below 4k rpms the car feels and sounds amazing but when your on it past 4 it can get kinda loud.. It can get a little raspy over 4k but not to much the s types really mellow it out

My starts at 3k and goes up from there with the S-types. Im considering putting the stock mufflers back on, or putting resonators on to fix it. Its my daily driver and its really getting to me.

Put resonators on it, I took mine off to begin with and god was it loud and raspy, I put my resonators back on and it definitely smoothed it out some.

When you remove the factory cats & resonators, it doesnt matter if it's an h or x... rasp ensues.

Did resonators quiet it down a lot or would you say it just removed the rasp? I'm about to start running roush AB + lethal performance O/R H + BAMA race tune
