How does grinding down your existing cams improve performance? If my understanding is correct you need more lift for more air/ exhaust gases to pass through. How did grinding down the material on your cams work? I would think you need taller or thicker rockers ( I think that's what they are called) to achieve that?

I don't know about the New cams and computers

In the old days the cam was regrinded to allow the valves to stay open longer. They did have less lift after grinding the lobes down but the duration made up for that ten-fold. Another feature was increased RPM without floating the springs. Some of the old time street rodders I hang out with still use re ground cams in the older carbarated engines they love.
Now I don't know what the heck would happen in you re-ground a cam for one of our new engines that are computer operated. It would probably be a freakin nightmere.

Just sit tight, there are NA cams being tested and if all works out well you will be able to buy them as new billet cores from a major cam manufacturer.
