First Car Show

Hello

I am taking the 2011 convertible to its first car show this weekend.

I washed it last night and it is parked in the garage.

Any tips?

Kevin

Yup, have a hot girl in a bikini and high heals leaning on your car and you'll win hands down, no questions asked

Bring a California duster, some detailer spray, and a few microfiber towels. Did you get the engine bay looking good? Also a lot of the shows I go to award extra points for having a fire extinguisher and first aid kit in the trunk. Also check the undercarriage and wheelwells for cleanliness. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Most of all, have fun. It's nice to meet people and check out other rides. If you don't win a plastic trophy, don't be disappointed.

Clean is the key. No substitute for "elbow grease".

Cleaner the better and don't forget to shine those tires! Best of luck to you and enjoy!

Make sure the inside of the rims (behind the spokes) are damn near just as clean as the outside.

I am guilty of this myself but nothing kills the vibe more than when 99% of your car is spotless and the 1% that isn't sticks right out at the judges when they go in for a close up of your wheels.

But again as rmb said have fun! Meet some fellow car enthusiasts and enjoy the atmosphere.

Most local car show are participant judged so no need to worry about a points system........unless you are trying to win the "Ridler" lol.

Clean under the hood, easy to loose points there.
Some shows require the top to be up.
Trunk open ?
If it's a " classed " " judged " show, what makes your ride stand out from the crowd ?
Be at your car to present it to whoever is judging.

^^^ This. I have found that if you pay to be a member of a local car club, then attend one of their shows, you are darn near a "shoe in" to receive a plaque or trophy. Either a bronze, silver, or gold class, indicating how clean the car is.

Last show I went to, the "Mustangs and Mustangs" at an airstrip where they had 2 P51's that you could have your Mustang pose next too (awsome), they had the Mustangs driving through freshly cut grass to the show field. Many owners had a fit with having to remove tiny grass clipings from their tread! One guy even jacked his car up at all four corners to clean the tires. Another Mustang owner complained that someone next to him put up an awning to shade themselves from the Hot sun that day. he said the shade was not allowing his paint to "shine" as it should. While I had a good time, listening to all this silly bickering dampened the show for me.

Enjoy the cars, the weather, and especially the friendship of other members who attend the show. Thats what it's all supposed to be about.

Hello

Wrong wording.

This was a drive-in Cars and Coffee and not a "CAR SHOW".

What ever I still had fun.

My friend John with the 62 Corvette caught gruff for parking next to me in the Mustang/Ford row. Mustang guys and the Chevy guys were giving him a hard time but all in fun.

A good time.

K

Looks like a decent turnout! Seems like it's getting harder and harder to find drive-ins where a decent amount of cars will show up around here. Not like when I first started driving back in the early 80s.
