Stripes or no Stripes?

Hey guys, I'm curious on your thoughts on stripes and the different kinds. I've been looking at the 10 or 12 inch Le Mans stripes. How is the quality of the ones that AM sell? I don't want to paint them on in case I decide to undo my decision. I have a 2014 V6. I don't want it to look ricey or poserish. Ideas? Questions? Concerns? Comments?Click image for larger version

As for the quality AM's hold up very well, but mine started to oxidize because I rub wax over them in the earlier stages not knowing that would happen and I went through drive thru car washes and who knows what chemicals they use. For your year model the cobra stripe always looks great to me but its your ride and you final say. I feel a candy color stripe would look legendary but you may have to get that custom painted on...

I really want to. I think it would look sick! I called the dealer I bought the car from and asked of their body shop would do it, they instead gave me this guys number who's a "mobile" guy who comes to you and does these things... Think I'll pass on that. I want it done professionally, and it shouldn't cost that much for an install being that it comes in pieces.

Black or Matte Black. I have the FP6 Appearance pack on my car, so the black accents are gloss black. I may go that route.

Definitely get it professionally done, i tried DIY the first time and I did a decent job. Though you could clearly see the difference when my shop did it...

The guy might be a professional if the dealer suggested him. He just may not have a shop to keep his prices and overhead down. He might be the guy the dealer uses. It wouldn't hurt to check him out and maybe get some references for his work.

You don't drive your car to the windshield place when you need a new one, they come to you. Same concept.

My dealership had a mobile guy as well. He comes to the dealer about once a week and does the graphics for them.

You may be right. But I called this guy the dealer recommended and he told me he wouldn't even install them for me. He has his own way of doing things, I get that, but if I come with cash in hand with all the pieces, why would you refuse my business?

In that case I would move on. I wouldn't beg him to do it, and if you had to beg him, he probably wouldn't stand behind his work if things didn't turn out.

I would say def get some stripes! And like you stated def get it professionally done, it's worth the money! It really transformed my car. I still look at the original dealer pics of it plain and I'm def glad I got mine done. Good luck and keep us updated with pics if you decide to get them!

Here's one from outside the box...if you're decent at "spray can painting" you could mask the car off and plasti dip the stripes on

It's pretty forgiving stuff and easily removable should you decide to lose them.

Believe me man, I've really thought about it. I know I won't do it right with my track record. I did just pick up a can of it for some smaller areas though

I think stripes look good on some Mustangs, depending on model and year. I am CHEAP, so I can't really look at spending several hundred dollars, especially if the dealership wants to put them on. (CROOKS!)

Well, I think a little later down the road when my mod money replenishes, I'll go the 10 inch Shelby ones AM sells. Think that's the best ones, the 12 inch ones look too big for the car.

And you would be right my friend lol I was in the same dilemma haha.. I was like 12 or 10 but man when you section off 12 inchs of your hood you can see how wide they truly are.. The 10 inch are the sh!!!t I love the aggressive look and I get non stop compliments! I actually did the stripes saves a lot of money.. You should practice with the extra so that next time you save your self money

I would look into getting a black boss styled roof and a hood decal.

I see lol. I may not do the rocker stripes, personal tastes. But are the dual main overhead stripes down the car relatively simple in terms of measurements and such?

Real easy in terms of measurements.. You measure the good find your mid point.. Once you find it figure out what you want your gap width to be.. I used 1.5 inch tape and went from mid point of good to roof to the back and down the bumpers.. Now all you do is place the stripes directly next to the tape and presto.. Even tho placing the stripe is a lot easier said then done.. It's not that hard tho

I'm thinking about adding some to my '14 base V6. The car is Race Red and I really dig the look of white 10" or 12" twin stripes. Although the trendy thing to do is matte black, I think that the white (glossy) is more retro, which is what appeals a little bit more to me. I also like the way silver looks and is more rare but I also wanted to do rocker panel stripes with my RMR number, and that is only available in black or white. Opinions?

My concern with the racing decals is the uneven fading. How big of an issue is that? I park on the street and live in the south, so there is plenty of sunshine but I do wax at least once a month and use a wash with a wax additive. It will still probably fade though, won't it? Also, I was wondering what kind of maintenance is required to keep the decals looking good.
