8.8 gear swap mechanic questions

I went to my mechanic to get a quote for the gear swap (2.73-3.73) on my 2011 v6.
He of course was telling me about the difficulties on the job but he suggested me just buying the new spline to make his install easier? He thinks you can buy the slip with the new gears already so he wont have to do the shim adjusting. Just wanted to ask since I wasn't to sure if the was gona make the job "easier". Or even if thats how it works. Please thank you!
I initially was gona get the gears with the install kit for him to do job.

I would find someone else. That throws all kinds of red flags at me.

Yeah, you want a mechanic with some confidence about what he's doing. You want to hear: "Yeah, we can do that, do them all the time, piece a cake." Look for a mechanic that has done a lot of Mustang work. In your case, specifically the gears. You gotta get this one right the first time, no F'n aground

This "mechanic" knows nothing. Even if you buy the diff with the ring gear pre-installed, he would still have to shim the pinion gear and carrier, as well as properly set your preload and backlash. Definitely find a different shop to do your gear swap because that guy sounds sketchy as hell.

I have a 2014 V6 six speed Manual Shift. I see some of you did a gear swap on your V6 going from a 2.73 to a 3.73.

What did you have to do to recalibrate the speedometer?

How big of a difference in acceleration and the "Fun Factor" did you feel after the gear swap?

How much did the gas mileage go down to in city driving, and in highway MPG?

Thanks!

Can the speedo be recalibrated after installing 3.55 or 3.73 gears without using an aftermarket tuner??

I'm pretty sure this question has been answered for you already...no you will need to have it recalibrated or use 3.31's so the dealer can do it.
