Open headers

I was at a car meet and I heard people running open headers on there cars and it sounds awesome! I am very interested in them but know nothing about them or how they would work on my 2010 V6. Can I get some advice and some links to where I can get them cheap!

Thanks!

Alex

Aren't open headers bad for the engine? Something about getting too hot.

Please don't be that guy. Open headers are only for purpose-built drag cars. Doing it on your V6 will not give you any performance benefit and is just obnoxious.

They may not even pass your track inspection to run, depending on how the official feels about it.

Open headers on a V8... ok. On a 3.7? It is not going to sound good. You have been warned.

If you still want to try it, get a set of cutouts, you can even get electric ones that open with the flick of a switch. Have fun!

You might as well post a sign on your bumper. RUNNING OPEN HEADERS, PLEASE TICKET ME!

You get a ticket for Open Exhaust, Speeding or Exhibition of Speed and your a goner.

After that, you get pulled over or a LEO is following you and he runs a computer check, you can guarantee an Instant Ticket.

Not only you but you will have every other mustang in your area targeted. Just because someone else is doing it, Don't Be Dumb and Do it Yourself!

OP-While it's doable there's going to be little to no gain. It could potentially hurt performance even. That's the smaller side of the equation. Having done this before on a 2v GT you're going to be a magnet for local law enforcement! The decibel level in the cabin is close to nauseating, and friends and family wont even want to ride! It's very, very loud! If you're looking for a little noise I might recommend a muffler delete or a straight through axleback. What kind of mods are on your car at the moment?

Shouldn't this be in the 2005-2010 v6 category instead if the 2011-2014
