BAMA service

Did not want to rant but really BAMA is just annoying me to the core now. So my tuner was shipped out to me on May 19. It is july 3rd and i still dont have a proper working tune from BAMA. The first tune i received from them had problems and so i called them and they asked me to data log. I data logged and sent the data. I did not get a response for like 6 days. I gave them a call and they told me they never received the log because it was maybe over 10mb. Isn't the guy on the phone who asked for data log suppose to tell me that they filter out logs more than 10mb?

Fine, I sent them the log again by zipping it and now i receive a tune from them after about 3 days to which i said it was fantastic but after driving for few days i could make out it lagged between 2-3k rpm like it was running lean. It also had surge issue. I emailed Ryan and told him about it. I also sent him data log and he said everything was okay but he wanted some more logs jut to make sure there was nothing wrong. I made one more log and sent it on June 17. It is July 3rd today and i have no response nor a tune yet. I have been through about 4 tune revisions since May and 2 of them have been by data logging i believe and still dont have any communication from them.

I switched to MPT after all this nonsense and im surprised to see the difference. Everything i was complaining about has been resolved and he car pulls stronger than ever. I did not even feel the need to data log and send the data. If i contact MPT for any questions they respond in just few hours.

I love American Muscle and buy all my parts from them. Their service is terrific but BAMA is like you get what you pay for. Free tunes for life? Hell yeah

If you want them to fix it right it takes time. Did you try different tunes from them? Also make sure you updated all your parts as you put them on, and that you are running the correct octane fuel. It's also good to reset your ecu I forget what it's exactly called, about weekly or bi weekly because it will adjust to the tune and it won't feel as aggressive. You should have PMed one of the AM guys on here and they would have made sure they took care of it ASAP! Try talking to one of them I'm sure they'll do what it takes to get it right.

I have mentioned all the parts i ve changed. I am using the correct Octane i.e., 93 Octane. I know fixing takes time but how many days bro? June 17 to july 3rd and nothing yet, atleast some communication? I have a manual so i believe the method of pulling fuse number 47 does not work for me.

I did PM Dan and he asked for my order number and still nothing.

That's interesting ... I bought an SCT X4 from Steeda and am having very similar issues as to what you described. Also, having the same issues with getting a functional tune.

I also have a manual transmission.

yeah it sucks when things just don't work trust me I know. At least you are dealing with bama/AM and not a ford dealer! Lol. Sorry it's taking so long, I would be going crazy if it was my car mines my DD. I hope they can figure it out soon man glad that you have a working MPT tune.

I really don't think it is the tuner. If it was the tuner then MPT tune should have behaved in the similar fashion but it does not. Its linear at all rpm range with no surge issue nor the lag issue.

Mine is a DD too. I even drive it in snow so that's why i'm a little upset but i don't think i'm going to go with BAMA anymore. This is ridiculous.

Hey, I'm not entirely sure what the issue was specifically and I wanted to apologize for the level of service you received here. I wanted to ask if you could shoot me a PM with your order number so we can have the guys here take a look and shoot you a call to discuss this further. We're here to bend over backwards for our customers and I would do anything in my power to get you back on board with us. Let me know and I'll have someone reach out to you as soon as possible.

Alex

I think it's their standard tunes not functioning correctly with the X4. That's the only thing that makes any sense as their seems to be a significant rise in bad tunes, with the X4 being the common link.

I thought all the tuner does is unlocks the ECU and flashes the calibration package they send us in the .cef format. If this is the case then i don't think it can be the tuner but again i'm not sure on this one.

Thanks for the kind comments as well! I'm a PM away if anyone ever has any questions. I might as well be an insomniac so it's never too late to send me any questions, comments, or concerns!

I'm starting to see some isolated issues coming about with the X4 but it's in relation to updates!

I'd like our guys to look into this further. If it's becoming a pattern we'll want to have them make adjustments immediately!

I'm not sure why the Bama team hasn't reached out to you just yet. However, I've just checked with our head tuning specialist and he'll be reaching out to you very shortly! I see you'd like to be contacted after 4PM so we'll definitely do that.

I'm sorry for the delay on this. We do appreciate your patience while we get this fixed. You'll be enjoying your Bama tune today!

X4 has color screen, is smaller, holds more memory, and you can do wireless data logs instead of having to lug your laptop around with you.

I haven't been able to do any real data logging on my X4. The device seems to be fine with logging. It's just when trying to transfer the datalogs, it says there aren't any. It's always giving me either a communication issue, no datalog file found in device or can't select the file in Livelink Gen 2 V2.2.14.

Dan and Alex I'm sure you have spoken about this with the concerned person and I don't doubt this. Also thank you Alex for the discount code offered to me for all that I'm going through. Just wanted to bring to your notice that I did not receive a call from any BAMA specialist today after 4pm EST. I had my phone with me all the time and I was in coverage. I received a few calls after 4 but none of them from BAMA. I have no idea what is going on. I even sent an email to BAMA in the morning asking how long should I wait for an answer or a tune and again as expected, no response .

Thank you for doing whatever you could and I see even you guys are having a hard time to get them in touch with me. I'm done here. This is absolutely ridiculous and I'm pissed now. I will continue buying stuffs from AM as I said before AM is just fantastic but BAMA I don't know what up with them.

Something else to keep in mind, as I didn't see it mentioned: Make sure your firmware on the device is updated through the SCT software. It might sound silly, but I had some issues with a Bama tune that were ironed out through the update.

In some regard, it was preventing the tune from applying correctly. MPT might use slightly different parameters and that's why theirs worked fine. I have both so I can vouch for how each feel.

While I haven't had a huge issue with Bama's service, the person I had been in contact with over the phone was a bit......abrupt and dismissive. Granted, what he said worked, it was a bit off-putting though.

That being said, AM themselves has been nothing but awesome service

I have updated to the latest firmware. Exactly, AM service is just top notch and have never had issues. It is just Bama.

Hey, Thanks a lot for letting me know about this. I wanted to apologize about the miscommunication on our end and i'm not entirely sure how this managed to happen. I'll personally see to it that we have our lead calibrator contact you about this shortly. Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime or feel free to shoot me a PM and I'm here to help.

Jeez man they still didn't even call you? That's ridiculous. I'm sorry this is happening to you that's totally unacceptable from any business. The only thing I can think of is July fourth holiday weekend, but even then not even a call when informed about your problem repeatedly is insane. I'm sure the AM guys on here did all they could and more, but Bama really dropped the ball on this one. Something like this really resounds through the community on here. No Bama tune for me after reading all this... I understand a tune issue they happen, but not even a call? The customer always come first and it looks like Bama could care less about us. That being said, AM does an amazing job and has the best customer service I have ever experienced. They need to tell Bama to fix their customer service, because this is not the first time I have seen someone complaining about Bamas customer service, they have a rep. For being rude, curt, and non-responsive, and they definitely lost my future business, as well as a few others on here I'm sure. The $400 a tuner will add up real quick when we go elsewhere.

Yup no call from them yet. No reply to my email as well. I'm sure Dan and Alex have done whatever they could but its just BAMA. They are ridiculous. Will never recommend BAMA to anyone.

They need some new employees. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I was going to purchase a bama tuner next month, as was my uncle for his mustang. We will go with MPT or wait to see if Bama gets their s%$t straight... which I doubt they will after reading this. That's $800 to their competition, and like I said that number will QUICKLY go up... still can't fathom that a business could treat a customer this poorly... I get a day or two delay but weeks?! I would demand a refund or some compensation for having to endure this.. they should at least attempt to make it right, not ignore you...

Hey! I have absolutely no idea what happened on our end and I have to apologize about the ball being dropped here! We had a few tickets submitted back on the 3rd to have our calibrator contact you and I'm going to head over to speak with him right now. He should be in contact with you either tonight or tomorrow at the very latest to get a better idea of what's going on and how we can help! Please let me know if you have any questions at all and I'm here to help any way I can!

Alex

Imagine the Bama guy doesn't contact him AGAIN? lol. Or calls him and isn't polite\apologetic? If that was me I would FLIP out. I hope he gets compensated somehow, like a coupon or free tunes or something. Hoping for the best for the OP.

Right now, this is a big friggen thorn in AM's side. I've been watching Bama slide since I bought my Mustang last April of '13, and now it appears to have slipped off the ledge. I do know one thing, customers usually vote with their stongest tool, their wallet. At $400 a pop, this can get costly to AM. I just don't think it's right that Bama should be able to hurt AM and the OP in such an irresponsible way

Alex did pm me apologising about this but I asked Alex to not contact me about this anymore. I'm just furious and I will blast on the phone because of this.

I bought bama tuner because the free tunes thing. I chose mpt by paying 75 bucks because bama never responded and couldn't get the tune right. Now I could have easily opted to buy a tuner from mpt and get 3 free tunes. I really regret not choosing the latter option.

I have noticed the same thing. More and more complaints about Bama come up everyday. They are almost at the point when asked what tune should I get, the response is "anything but bama". From poor customer service to weak tunes, I haven't heard a positive thing about them in a very long time. I love AM, they are the only people I buy from for my mustang. Its a shame that they are associated with Bama and have to apologize for them. Idk if its different employees or they're just not up to scratch anymore, it sure is disappointing though, and you have to feel bad for people who thought they would be getting AM-level customer service and product, and instead are stuck with this.

Man, you hit the nail square on the head. You said exactly what I've been thinking for quite some time. Excellent observation
I hope AM can get Bama's act together, but I'm still going with MPT!

Okay here's an update. I finally received a call from bama and it was not mike Wilson it was Paul and he said he is pretty new there as a lead calibrator. They are changing their tunes and they should be able to get it right. He said he will compensate me by getting crediting me 75$ that I paid for the mpt tune.

He said he will send me a tune by tomorrow or Monday and then I can give him a feedback since it is a beta version and it is not yet released to public. I will keep you guys updated.
