Mustang shops in the Houston area Change gears

Anybody in the Houston area have or recommend a shop to change out my rear gears in my mustang.

I went to the Conroe dealer and they told me it would be 1100.00 for swap out to 3.31 or 3.55 gears and told me it will void the powertrain warranty because the car is modified from factory. I think the service adviser dosent know what he's talking about

I told them that it should not void the warranty since it is ford parts and ford dealer is doing the work

Don't waste money on a 3.31 to 3.55 gear swap bud.

Assuming you already have the gears and install kit: $280 at American muscle, but you can shop around a bit.
Ford Racing Mustang 3.55 Gears and Install Kit 100572 (10-14 V8; 11-14 V6) - Free Shipping

And assuming you already have a tuner: $200-400 depending on new / used / tune...

I had my girlfriends gears swapped at Auto Adrenaline Performance in Stafford for $250. Great work, guy wanted to drive it with me and make sure i was happy. I'm sure there are several great shops, but i'd recommend them .

Even with all those parts you're still coming in under what they quoted you, so i'd steer clear of a dealership and just get it done elsewhere.

That's where I was planning to order it from. Parts guy at dealer said the gears were 268.00 not sure if it included anything else

Did it make a noticeable difference in taking off?

we switched my GF's A6 from the factory 2.73 to 3.73 and i'd say it was a noticeable difference. We're going to the track tomorrow to test the gains, but stock was 14.7 @ 94-95, intake and tune was 14.1 @ 99, hoping with the gears and 275 tires (harder launch) to be around 13.7 - 13.8 @ 101 or so.

+1, if your going to do a gear swap from 3.31 go minimum 3.73s. As Rapinator stated spend your $$$ elsewhere. Where you might have warranty issues is because you need to tune the car with anything other than 2.73/3.31.

He said goin TO 3.31 OR 3.55, meaning he has stock gears and those are the options he's looking at.

I would say 3.55. As for the dealership, OP. Don't. For aftermarket work, they will be the most expensive and crappy workmanship. If they eff it up, they won't fix it either because it's aftermarket and they aren't held responsible.

A moderate change maybe, I would say 3.55s, or 3.73s but around the 3.73s is where you start to lose a bit of highway MPG, if you're fine with that it will launch quite a bit better though.

Shoot me a msg if you interested. I know someone in the southwest area. He installed my 4.10 gears for 210 bucks. You just have to provide gears, install kits, and oils.
