How so? A drill and bit can be had for like 30$ and the throttle body itself is about 50$

Or a machine ship could knock it out in maybe 30 minutes and maybe charge you 60 bucks. That's what a local shop told me.

Cheepest i found was a drill and bit for $50 at lowes, vice was like $75, and cant find any GT TBs for less than $100 right now. Maybe if i wait and ask around.

Honestly I had given up cause there was usually something iffy about it but this looks like it would be worth it...Thanks for the find....now i just need to see if the small coardless I have will be strong enough to do the job. What is needed really? Id need to make a template from my factory TB right? Then just drill holes?

That's exactly right. Get the right sized drill bit. The throttle body is aluminum and drills easily.

How did you fit rubber coupler from CAI onto 80mm TB? Did you buy a new one?

Stock CAI coupler is pretty tight as such :/

I used the Silicon tube that was supplied with my steeda intake. If you have a hard plastic tube you can get a silicon adapter tube at pep boys, autozone, adacance, etc.

This. The rubber coupler should fit, it may be a bit of a bear to get on, but you can always get a larger one for a couple bucks.

Really smooth acceleration. I don't know what the bbk feels like but it sounds awesome with the intake and the 80mm tb. Plus I get a nice burble and pop on my exhaust when taking a spirited drive

So my GT tb just arrived this evening, and I'm confused as F. I can't figure out where to drill new holes! I know this might be dumb question, but there are only 4 holes "sitting on top of the circle" of this tb, and I don't see any other places to drill another 4. Unless theyre supposed to go on that slight bulge towards the back, which I highly doubt.

How off were these holes on your gt tb when lined up again intake manifold? I sort of placed my 80mm om top of stock 68mm to get an idea, they sort of lined up on top of each other!! Major WTF. Remember this tb is coming off of a 2013 GT, so I don't know if they changed anything with regards to fitting.

I checked part number on this tb (BR3E 9F991 AE) to make sure if this a GT tb for sure, and that I'm not screwed over by an Internet punk. Well, Google says it belong to 5.0

Line them up back to back and centered. The holes will be slightly drilled into the current holes. MAKE SURE IT'S. CENTERED. The 68mm should be perfectly in the middle of the 80mm in all aspects. That's why I recommend making a template

I don't know that you'd notice the difference w/ the limitation on intake anyway. Just becareful now to kill your motor.

The intake is not a limitation. 5 he intake tubes are a little larger than 80mm inner diameter. And the Im opening is 80mm with fins removed and sanded. So that makes a complete 80mm flow path from filter through the im. No restriction or choke points.

So your not really drilling a hole so much as you are boring the existing ones over to fit

No do not bore the existing hole bigger. That will allow for play in the tb and it won't align right. When drilled it will look like an 8. The two holes do intersect but are different locations

Did anyone notice carbon/black powdery stuff buildup inside their stock TB? - much like you see in exhaust tips.

Also, these are the stupid fins right? Lol. I'm at a machine shop getting holes 'milled' in gt tb, would definitely suggest to go this way even if youre tad bit hesitant diy with a drill. You're gonna spend 30-50 bucks on a new drill anyway, might as well pay that money to a pro so that it can be done right.

Ah finally done!! Payed 80 bucks to machine shop guy to mill new holes, and remove those ugly looking fins. Although I still have a make shift coupler tied on with a wire lol had to cut airaid one at a few places to make it fit, while I get a new one.

It does feel a bit smooth while accelerating, although I'm on my mpt tune which itself pulls quite smoothly through out the rpm anyway. It feels a tad bit quicker through rpms, I can't notice any difference in the sound though.

Next part: get a revised tune to dial it in.

Ps: those who have installed a gt tb, do you guys here an oozing/whistling noise during light acceleration (around 1800-2500 rpm? Maybe it could also be the extra air that is getting sucked in from top of the TB where the coupler is. Even though it looks pretty tight.

My BBK makes a whistling sound there too.

The TB gets dirty because of the oil blow by in the intake, and oddly enough, my 5/10 build didn't have any fins to begin with.

Its not the TB. It's the fins. I removed mine a few weeks back and it's been whistling ever since. Shunc01 noticed it while we were dataloging 3 weeks ago. I feel like it didn't do much except allow for more aound.

Oh okay, yeah just making sure everything is working the way it should. Also, did you notice beefyness in your sound and improved throttle right after the install or after a few days once it has settled down?

The fins being removed makes it whistle because the plate is not opened all the way at partial throttle and it whistles past the plate and the Im opening
