Will a stock 2012 GT hood fit my v6?

Hey just wondering if a stock GT hood would fit my 2012 v6. reason for asking is I am getting some warranty work done by Ford and may need a new hood. I was wondering if the GT hood would fit my v6 since I like the hood vents and if they would give me the GT hood instead of the v6 it would be cheaper and less risky than cutting into my hood myself for the vents. Thanks!

The hoods changed in 2013

You would probably need a 2013 up grill surround among a few other things.Go look at a 2013 or 2014 to see exactly what you will need.

I've been researching all day and the dealership said they didn't know. I was under the impression a 2012 hood would fit my 2012 v6 since on AM all the aftermarket hoods say v6/gt, but if I have to do a front grill conversion to have a hood w vents I will pass on it and just have a v6 2012 hood.

Yes a 2012 hood would fit a 2012 v6/GT not a 2012 Shelby hood nor 2013 or 2014 year model would NOT fit a 2012 model so yes 2012 year gt hood will fit a 2012 v6

OP is talking "HOOD VENTS"

I should have asked what year GT hood with the vents but I don't think the GT hood had vents in 2012.

I don't believe they did either. I know the 2013-14 can use the GT fog light grille and we cannot, so maybe the hood would not fit. If it did, I guess there would be a lot of people buying take-off 2013-14 GT hoods for their 2012's.

The hood on the 2012 GT and V6 are the same, hood vents did not hit the Mustang until 2013 though and it will not fit without the bumper and everything that corresponds to changing it over.

Thanks for the info. Siber. I searched on here and google but couldn't find a definitive answer. Looks like I will just get an aftermarket hood down the road. I would love to now, but it is time for a tune/CAI for me.

Nope

The 2012 GT or any standard Ford Mustang did not come with hood vents. I just walked down to my neighbors house to see. ( In the rain) He has a 2012 Brochure and non of the pictures of the Mustangs have vents.

I know that you can buy vents to install on your 2011 or 2012 hood. Probably easy enough to install.
Measure six times.
Use masking tape where your gonna cut.
Measure again.
Cut opening.
Pull off masking tape and paint the edges.
Install the vents.
Stand back and admire your work.
See, EASY.
Answer to question: Yes a 2012 GT hood will fit the 2012 V6 because they are the same.

Thanks for the journey through the rain to check! I thought they had vents but wasn't sure. I just figured if Ford was giving me a new hood might as well get it for free and not risk the hood lol. I will talk to them Tuesday and see what's up.
