Free Dyno Run

My South Texas Mustang Club is having a car show and will have a dyno on set to measure hp in a competition. I am fairly new to dyno runs but have seen some crazy vids with engines blowing up.. I have a 2014 V6 w/ bbk intake bbk short tune headers + 93bama race tune + borla S-type cat back w/ 15k miles on my engine.. I really wanna see what hp my car puts down but I am worried something might happen to my car.. Should I be worried to compete? Yes? No? Any stories? This is my DD by the way..

You should be fine, just make sure they dyno your car in 3rd gear... yes, i know 3rd gear is not optimal, but it will keep the car at a relatively safe MPH for the drive shaft.... we actually dyno'ed my car in 3rd and 4th and the numbers were the same...

Usually when you pop a motor on the dyno it's because they are also tuning the car and pushing the tune... Don't hear of a lot of NA 3.7 popping their motors just doing a couple of dyno pulls... But like anything there is always the possibility...

Jay- I wouldn't be concerned about this at all! Most if not all of the dyno issues I've ever seen resulted in the car coming loose! Having been in the position I know it can be a little unsettling but it's fun! Have them strap it down and post up some numbers or a graph, we'd love to see.

As previously stated do it in 3rd just to be safe. I really can't see anything going wrong, the DS would be nice but you can still dyno with out one no problem. Maybe call your tuner and have them put the speed governor back on at 113 just to be safe.

"They" as in the people operating the dyno

The tunes do bump the governor up a few MPH but it's still enabled because of the driveshaft failure issue on these vehicles. You would be safe to run on the dyno but like others have said you're going to want to be well aware of the speed that they're pulling to. If you're going to have the car tracked (road course) I would definitely take a look into a One Piece Driveshaft to be on the safe side!
