Buying a new mustang

I'm currently looking at buying a new mustang but can't decide which color I want and I can't decide if I want a 2014 or 2015. Which color and year would you guys choose?

Really? You're going to get a suggestion for every color available.

'14 or '15, apples and oranges, again you need to be the deciding chooser, especially since no one has yet to drive a '15 to give you an honest opinion.

What do you have now and have you actually driven a '14 yet?

Well in that case, Sterling Gray or Ruby Red.

I really like my Sterling Grey 14. I feel like it especially looks good with black external mods. My preference for year is based on look. I think the front of the 15 is too standard looking, taking away from the mustangness of the car. If you look, the front looks exactly like the Fusion. I also feel like ford was trying too hard to look more like the Camaro. There is a thread on here titled something to the effect of "The 2015 is horrendous", which you might want to read. It's also going to be the more expensive at this point.

I would go with Gotta Have It Green or Deep Impact Blue. I have Grabber blue and it is my favorite and I love it. Sure gray black and white are nice but there are so many that color, especially in Florida where red is big too. Stand apart! Be different! GHIG is such a cool color, and DIB is beautiful, my favorite blue besides grabber of course. Don't listen to what Anyone says or the ones that are said the most, pick what YOU like, it's YOUR CAR.

The 15 will handle corners a lot better (independent rear suspension), the 14 may or may not be better for straight line speed (rear "truck" suspension).

You can get the 14 now, the 15 won't be available until September and after.

You can get a new 14 v6 now for about $19,000, maybe less. The new 15 v6 is somewhere around $24,500, and there probably won't be any discounts for quite some time since it's an entirely new model and demand will be higher than production. More for the ecoboost 4 cyl and GT.

They look quite different, both interior and exterior - that's all subjective to what you like.

If price was not a factor, I would wait until the 15 comes out and test drive it along with the 14. If price is a major factor, the choice seems relatively easy - you can get a 14 really cheap right now.

Also, Labor Day weekend at the end of August, beginning of September is the end of ford's fiscal year. They will do almost anything to move cars over that weekend. You could probably get a base 14 for close to 17k or 18k that weekend.

No way the base will get that low, there would be little to no profit in it for Ford. $19k maybe, but that's as low as it will go.

GHIG was my pick for '13. If I got a '15, it would be Comp Orange.

White , the color for an iconic pony car and the best for hot terrain , the last S197 is the one IMO to get

Personally, I wouldn't take anyone color advice but your own. After all, you have to live with it.

BUT the 2015's interior looks like it's gonna be muchhhh nicer. And that's where you're gonna spend most of your time.

I recently asked myself the same question. The options that I wanted really dictated what happened. Color was secondary. I had a list of colors that were acceptable. The 3.7l v6 with the Performance Package, Recaro Seats, and Bluetooth Streaming which meant the Tech/Sync Package. I didn't need anything else, nor want it. Since the 2015 does not have the Performance Package available as an option with the V6 that pretty much sealed the deal for me, 2014 it is. Besides, the 2005-2014 Mustang is by far the best looking modern Mustang hands down. It incorporates the classic looks of the fastback with modern technology. The 2014 model year is the pinnacle of this generation car, get one while you can. I paid a little over $23k out the door.

The 2011-2014 3.7 Mustang equipped with the PP is an incredible performer for the money. 13.9 1/4 mile. 30 mpg hwy. Surprisingly it's really good on the track with a great time on Streets Of Willow, meaning this car is a true back road burner.....

So, if you want that Mustang retro look, the venerable 3.7l v6 with the options it deserve, and great pricing to boot, I think a '14 is the choice.

Everywhere I go I get "nice looking Mustang", and it is. It's my daily driver 9 months out of the year for at least the next 4 years. I've owned it 3 weeks and I'm still giddy! I'm very happy I moved on the 2014 and didn't get the first production year of the next generation. That said, I'm sure I'll own one down the road with a 5.0 or hopefully an ecoboost v6 under the hood.

The smart money is always on whatever color the car you are interested in comes in pearlcoat or tricoat paint or similar. These paints cost a bit more but they look better, last longer, and can be polished out far more than normal clearcoat paint can.

For a 14, that's Green or Ruby Red, and for the 15, it looks like Ruby red and Yellow. Sadly, the Orange doesn't come in a special paint type.

I am torn between Ruby Red and DIB

Choosing the 2014 over 2015, slightly prefer the 2014 looks and the incentives right now are to good.

Sterling Grey
Deep Impact Blue
Grabber Blue

Got to have it green

I just went through this and had it narrowed to race red or deep impact blue. I ended up going deep impact and love it. Something else to look at is interior, I went with the black leather and in the Texas sun the steering wheel gets pretty hot, the seats are actually really good about the heat.

'14 V6 deep impact blue or Ruby red. If you go '15 I wouldn't get the V6 as you can't get it in premium trim so I would go Ecoboost in the same colors.

It's funny because everyone here has had a different answer and 99% of people suggested the color of their car. This is so subjective that it's really pointless to ask as there is no benchmark to make one color better then the next. What I would suggest is unless you have your heart set on one color come up with a list of a couple that you like and look for the options you want. That's what I did and generally if a dealer had the car on the lot or a sister lot they will give you a better dealer then if they have to transfer it or order it. For me when I walked in I wanted a base V6, manual, with sync in any color except white (personal preference). Nothing more nothing less and they happened to have one in black.

As far as options I would think about what you want and what sounds cool but you would really never use. Before I bought my car I had a Nissan 370Z that had everything you could think of option wise and that really made me realize what I wanted as far as what I didn't use. For example I knew I would never use heated seats or navigation so the only thing with the premium that really appealed to me was the leather and it wasn't really worth 4-5 K for leather seats as I could probable find a set of take off's for under a grand once these cars become a bit older and people start modding them more.

just a guess but I THINK you'll be able to get a 2014 V8 for the price of a 2015 V6 come september/october. If it came down to those two choices I would get the V8.

oh yeah let me remind you Race Red is the fastest color. But, in honesty a Mary Kay Pink V8 is faster than any V6

I'm a little partial to Deep Impact Blue. It is my 4th Mustang and I went full circle, as close as I could. My first was a Midnight Blue '67 Fastback. Sold it for a Silver Frost '66 Fastback that I sold when my daughter was born. (I miss that car). I had a Laser Red '95 GT 'Vert. Now the DIB '14. I almost pulled the trigger on a Silver '14 since it looks so close to the '66 FB. But I really fell in love at the dealership with the DIB.

It's best to go to a dealer that has all the colors that you are interested in and just look at them. From all angles. I guarantee there will be one that stands out more than the others...Also sit in them for awhile. get a drivers view of them. Also take a look at the interior, as someone said earlier, that is where you spend your time. When I first started looking, I really didn't think I cared about the premium interior. Now I'm very happy that I did...
