MPT Ghost Cam Tunes?

There may already be a thread on this that I may have overlooked, but oh well. I was looking into getting a more aggressive tune, but didn't really know where to go. I finally heard about MPT by talking to some guys while I was at Mustang Week. They mentioned the Ghost Cam Tune, which I'd assume messes with the timing to achieve that "lopey" sound that cams typically make. Any input from those who currently or have had MPT tunes in the past? I'm looking to do this not just for the lope, but for the performance aspect of it too.

Ghost Cam is only sound. You can add it to a performance tune for an extra $50. So your tune would be $125 and have the ghost cam idle.

Oh ok. I was just on their website and said I could order 3 tunes with the different stages of lope as well as the performance tune for $75?

It's $75 per tune, and $50 to add a ghost cam to each one. That's what I was told on the phone with MPT last week. So, $125 a tune with ghost cam.

Anyone know if Bama offers the ghost cam? Does it affect the car negatively in any way?

They do not. I believe it just dumps fuel making the noise. A quick call to MPT will tell you for sure.

I love my cam tune. MPT is better than bama. Get the race setting for transmissions and performance tune.

It's a bear to drive just like my dad's chevelle 454 with a built motor. And it makes the car sound like a v8. But I have the Mac off road pro chamber and flowmaster 40's

Runs the car rich and lean constantly. It's horrible at idle and runs richer than if you're on premium, but it'll kick to the regular tune after 1200.

Stage 2 in an auto also shakes the car like a stage 3

I paid $75 for mine total. Club discounts I'd recommend and please data log after getting it. I'm an automatic, and I've stalled a few times. Stage 2 is very aggressive and semi stable. Shakes like a boat on water when in neutral.

Doesn't sound like it's good for the engine if it's constantly running rich and lean.

So, based on what you guys have said:
A) the stage 2 lope is unnecessary and the stage one should do just fine.
B) the tune likes to run rich
C) Is night and day difference over the conservative Bama tunes.

Now that I read all this... I'm ordering them tonight 😈

Only on idle to 1200.

Get a stage 2 first. Don't like it? Back down to stage one. You get six months free tune revision. I love mine honestly. And I can still highway the car. Although, the gearing is off with the ghost cams vs the regular tunes. Not as responsive to downshift.

I have the ghost cam - stage 2 tune - racing option. No complaints at all.

If you have automatic, stage 2 is your maximum option.

Just a quick question, is the ghost cam tune hard on the engine? Are there any cons to having it?

Very rich, pain in the *** to drive. And it's descent on the engine. Keeps the intake and exhaust valves open at the same time so it runs so rich it'll burn your eyes. I'm catless so it's not a huge problem. It creeps to a stop and jumps like a cammed car with a big cam pulling vacuum out of the brakes. It's all electronically controlled now but still cool how the car drives like one from the 70's. Also ken told me that the airaid or jlt is the best intake for it. Ken is the lead calibrator at MPT.

That can be adjusted. I had the same case as well.

My MPT tune was making 2 types of behavior (1) the same thing that you just mentioned. Wild lope which makes the car move / jerks forward on its own. (2) cammed.. there's a 70-30 variable on this.

I wanted the 2nd one so they revised it accordingly.

There was I time that I was playing with my V1 & v2 tunes. Loading the version depending on what/where going/doing.

Do you guys do the "relearn" 50-75 miles no WOT when you load the MPT tune again? or switch between them? My car feels not as fast as when it was first tuned than when I did the "relearn" process of no WOT for 50-75 miles

For MPT tune > they advised to do so. But I only do 30-50 miles. For my lund racing > not required.

Thanks for the info. If I can justify spending $200 on Lund maybe I will try him out...

I'm really eager to hear what you think of the Lund if you do wind up trying it out.

I just can't imagine it being that much better than Bama's or MPT's to be worth $200, especially after reading about you saying there isn't that much of a difference between the Bama and the MPT.

Yeah that's why I haven't yet.... the $75 for MPT to try out was fine, but $200? That's a lot of my mod budget when I could get other things.

Good question.

I'd be impressed with chopping off a second out of any of those though.

My MPT is far faster than my bama. And it would be even faster if it didn't have to kick in and out of the cam lope. Ken told me everything was fine and he's the head guy there. If he says it's fine, it's fine. I run it for shows anyway

What did you go from, to with the Lund? Because I average 4.9-5.1 with my MPT. I know for a fact I won't go to a 4 second 0-60, or even a 4.5 for that matter with the Lund.
