Rear gears

Want to change the rear gears of my 2011 3.7, 6 spd manual from 2.73 to either 3.31 or 3.55 gears.
Which would be better for highway cruising mileage & minor city driving?
My car is not a daily driver. I usually take it out every two weeks, so gas mileage is not a real concern. I have other mods I'm going to make such as CAI, headers, cat backs, & tune.
Any help would be awesome.

3.55 or 3.73 for sure. You will probably get more 3.73 votes

How much will the 3.73s affect mileage? Replaced stock wheels with 18x9s and noticed a drop from 31mpg to about 29mpg. So new gears should help turn the extra weight from the wheels, right?

It's going to depend on your driving habits. Yes it will help with the heavier wheels and others have stated the 3.73 don't hit the mpg to bad. From what I've read under normal driving conditions you should get between 25-28 mpg with the extra gear

Don't go less than 3:73 gears. I get 27 mpg highway and that's running a conservative 75 mph. My 3.7 is not stock and puts almost 300 hp to the wheels. No less than 3:73 gears bro.

I have the 3.31 and it's a world of difference. I drove a stock 3.7 with 3.55 ( a guy who sold me his CAI had them installed) and I noticed no difference from my 3.31 but I'm sure 3.73 is very much noticeable from 3.31. Still I get 29-31 hwy mpg and if I drive normal on the street I get about 19-21 city. I tend to drive very briskly though so even if I had 3.73s I'd still be getting crap mpg. (PS I got the gears for $100 with a free install at my uncles shop. So no I shouldn't have gotten 3.73s or 4.10s).

From what I've read, no better than a GT on the Hwy. You might get better city mpg though but not really considering you would most likely be smashing the pedal every chance you got lol

8-10 in the city.
12-14 on the highway

Alot more than just 4.10's contribute to that. Not a v6

Wait is that what the GT gets with 4.10 gears or a V6? I'm not sure what you mean by not a V6.

Brings up a question for me. Is there a big difference between the brands? AM only has Ford Racing and MPP.

Ford Racing is to gears like Glock is to handguns. There's no other brands lol

If your keeping the same size tire go 3.55 with the manual. 3.73 with the automatic. Trans gears make the difference. I have 3.55 gears with the manual and it's perfect. Ad an aluminum driveshaft and your done! You will hate the 3.73 with the manual. You'll be shifting like a fool all the time. Clutch after clutch.

3.55s or 3.73s, there isn't much difference between the two, you won't "hate" 3.73s. While 3.55s are also a good choice, most people go with 3.73s in the manual for a little more "bite" down low. I'd understand 3.55s to 4.10s being too much but not 3.55 to 3.73s.

I disagree about handguns, while Glock is ok, I think Kimber, and Smith and Wesson are better.

I really like the XDM 40 that they have. Not sure if I'll let the XDM40c, or the M&P40c for concealed carry when I turn 21.
