Thinking of going a different route with exhaust

Well, i recieved my pypes bomb but might have gone over my head with the noise level, i am thinking about going full catback exhaust by mbrp. The price seems to be good and there is a site to get 15 percent off their products. I will probably put the pypes up for sale for a decent price just to recoup some cost...

Hi TJ,

Thanks for the extra options, but mbrp full catback for under 500 bucks is too good of a deal to pass up...

I bought the Mac axle back for 400.00 directly from Mac and I love it. Great tone and not too loud. Price point is definitely some thing to consider but higher price isn't always better.

I bought two Flowmaster 40 series mufflers welded on. It's loud and deep when you step on it but no drone or anything at highway speeds. It's awesome. Total cost me bout 350. Just an option you could consider. Full cat back for under 500 is good but a little sketch.

Looks good... just make sure you like the sound before you purchase it! Stupid question, can you have a catback with an aftermarket x pipe? (cut and clamp Ford racing)

Yes it should connect where the x pipe in your case finishes.

Used the super 44s and currently using flowmaster series 10. Is the pypes louder than the series 10?

If you do buy the MBRP cat back, will you do a video of the sound?
After selling my Borla s-type's, i wanted to go with something quieter and from what i heard, the MBRP is pretty tame with a nice tone to it. Let us know how it work out for you!

At idle I dont think its as loud as your setup, it just that the whole time I was driving around with the pypes all i heard was bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, bwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I admit it though when I stepped on it, it did sound pretty angry, but just going around town it was like bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

So the I got the MBRP exhaust delivered, how hard is it to do an axleback exhaust install on these cars? Will a rhino ramp and some wrenches do?

When I did my axel back I didn't even jack it up. It's easy to get to.

I actually did my axle backs exactly as you described. Rhino ramps and some basic wrenches. It does help to have a friend though (the stock mufflers are awkward and heavy to wiggle out). Also, a tip I would give is to loosely tighten the band clamp and then check for tip alignment.

Your gonna have to jack it up fairly high to get those stock mid pipes out I ended up cutting one of the mid pipes on my old 3.7 cus my jack would go higher.

I'm really wanting a quad tip exhaust setup like the GT500, but I don't see any readily available for the 3.7? Latemodelrestoration has a Magnaflow with that setup that they said would fit a 2014 3.7 (listed for a 10-12 V6) with some modification, but they won't tell me what has to be modified (pn MPE-15076). I know I'll need the GT500 rear valence but other than that I can't figure out what the difference would be...

The diffrence from the 11-12 to the 13-14 is just the hangers to my knowledge for the axle backs. Hangers are diffrent but if u can city and weld u can make it work easily. And the rear valance but u already know that. I have the roush axle backs on my 13 MCA edition and love them. There loud and sound great. No drone. They are the loudest I've heard yet but they mellow down for cruising.

A lot of people say that the pypes have all this drone but I only get drone when I'm around 2300 rpms. I love my pypes, I like loud, but drone? Nah, when I'm cruising around town I'm never over 2000 rpm, highway I'm around 17-19 rpm and I never get that bwwwwaaaaa sound. Sometimes I forget their ever there.

Dubai - those sound really good. Almost fooled me when I saw SHELBY on the back! Do they have that raspy crackling sound when you rev the motor then let off the throttle? I don't really care for that sound. Reminds me of a ricer.
