What's this discoloration in my paint?

Hey everybody, first post here and unfortauntely it's an issue. I vow to never buy a black car again lol but it looks so damn good when it's nice and clean..and far away lol..

so i noticed this odd discoloration on my trunk lid that's almost a oil-colory looking white/blue in certain light. it's under the paint, and it's flat to the touch so it's not something like a ding or a scratch or anything. it's weird because i just noticed this today (3 months into owning the car) and i've washed it many times. i'm wondering if this is new or it's been there all along and i never noticed it. should i contact a dealer to see if it's under warranty? it's a 2014 V6 Premium, but I got it used in April. the original owner got it in May of '13, so it's still under warranty. any thoughts? thanks guys!

I noticed my trunk lid looks a little blotchy. Not exactly like that though.

If it's under warranty still you can bring it in to the dealer, they take pics and send it to Ford. Ford then decides what to do, be it repaint or what. I just had my whole hood re done through this process.

Some guy pulled a Jim from American Pie and jizzed on your car once he saw your sexy Mustang.

For seriously though, I'd take it to the dealer and ask them to fix it under warranty.

hahah oh good god no....

alright cool, i'll have to get in touch with a dealer nearby. somebody on reddit told me to contact someone named Deysha over on allfordmustangs.com and that they're a customer service rep that will help escalate the issue. anyone ever deal with them before?

You can also call Ford and they will directly for you. I did that.

The ford number. Google
Ford and call the number then press whatever number coincides with your reason for calling when it says too

Try buffing it out with some wax. I had marks like this on my car too and it came out with wax. I believe it was stains from rain water or something to that effect.

hmm. i did recently wax it, though, but the thing is that I can't remember if this was there when I got it or not. I think it just recently came about. I tried some detailing spray on it, but that didn't help.

I think he took it away.

All I hear about Jesus is that he's a pretty good guy. Can't imagine him messing with someone's car.

might as well. was taking bird **** off the hood today, and it left a nice big swirly scratch from when i was trying to remove it. i can't win with this thing. i'm never buying a black car again.

Black is a tough color for sure.

As for removing bird poop, don't wipe it off because birds eat little bits of gravel to help them digest, so wiping it off causes scratching your paint. Better to spray it off.

What if it's caked on and doesn't come off from spray?
