Tailight - Cover or tint

Hello

I installed the AM tailight cover this week but I am beginning to think they like cheap and cheesy.

I am thinking I should go to these new tailights

The covers are kind of cheap. That was my first purchase when I was looking to change up my stangs tailend and I can say they lasted about a month until the tape kind do wore out and they started failing off.. It's a temporary fix for a permanent issue so if course it's not goin to be perfect. I bought smoked taillights and I couldn't be happier. I know that American muscle is having their Labor Day sale and they have smoked coyote taillights for 99 dollars flat. Really good price you should check those out as well. Answer to your issue: go ahead and get something else other than those covers

I had the smoked covers on for about 6 months. They collected pollen and dust like crazy.... I actually didn't hate them until I got on here and started actually modding. They were the first thing to go LOL.
They look a little cheap and "bug eyed", but for the price, you get what you get. Can't really expect much more. The 3M on one side wouldn't stick either, so one corner was always a little popped out. Pretty glad I got rid of them.
They did look decent at night however, just really cheap in the day time.
I would definitely get a pair of smoked tail lights instead.

Really happy with how my rear looks now....
The covers look a lot better in black on your car than on mine

They look A LOT worse in person.
Again, they're not the worst I had them on for almost a year, I liked them while they were on, but tinting them or the smoked tail lights is a much better option, in my opinion anyway!

Hey

I think they look good from a distance but I would not want to take my Mustang to my local Car's and Coffee with them on as I think they look less than professional. I took a chance and after getting them I don't like the way they look.

I ordered tint for the rear lights and for the headlights

No biggie.

Alex

thanks for the offer but this happens sometimes and it is not your fault.

I went from covers, to tint, then to nothing, then to smoked. I promise you guys as a long term thing it's worth buying smoked taillights. My issue with the tint is you can tell it's tint in person. I mean of course when you use temporary solutions like I said it will never be a permanent fix

Both tint and covers are a big no-no in my area. I like the look, but don't need the police hassle.

Since you asked and respectfully those tail light tint covers are absolutely horrible and king cheesey, cheap looking of the car. I would take them off stat and order the taillight tint film from AM. It gives the apperence of nice tinted lenses, all while showing the shape, beauty of the tail light design and not darken the light output of the tail lights. The tail light tint film is classy and a winner. I love mine and went with the third brake light tint film as well.

I bought that tint film cover from AM. I have had mine on for 4 months plus and it holds up great. No issues thus far. I'm really happy with it. Its pre cut to fit perfect

Awesome! Post up a review once you get them on! They can be a little stubborn sometimes so take your time with them. Most if not all vinyl be it 3m or laminx can be a little time consuming to get them in the right position!

From personal experience I would have to agree with this as well!

If anyone were to have any issue with the tint I'd want to be the first to hear about it! Tint's come a long way over the past 10 year and the shelf life should be well over 5 years. Again-If anything were to happen even be it install related don't hesitate to let me know!

Alex, the tint has held up excellent in the past 4 months. I couldn't be happier with it and in fact I got the third brake light tint.

Kona-Looking good and awesome! I think for what they cost they're definitely one of the better mods out there and if you ever just want to change up the look they can be removed in a heart beat!

I'm pretty picky. I'll go back and forth on mine. Some months I want to go from a smoked theme and then I'll change it up. I like a OEM/Factory look.

Hello

I installed the tint on the tail lights and the center break light last night

OK Now I looking for someone who has installed the smoked headlight tint. I have the tint but have not yet installed it. That will be the last step as far as tinting the 2011.

I skipped most of page 1-3, have you thought about 13/14 taillights? They look just fantastic.

They are not a good fit for the 11-12 models. There is a very noticeable gap.

^If you've got a black car, the gaps aren't as noticeable. Otherwise, its really kind of ghetto tbh.

On topic, covers look like complete fkn sht. Hate em. Tint looks alright. Paint is the best way to go. Smoked housings look good too but not really that dark.

Agree to disagree. Everyone who has looked at my car didn't know until I pointed out my insecurity. I believe OP has a black car, too (which is why I chimed in lol).
