Pretty Rare Mustang

I got the production numbers back on the options on my car.

2014
Total V6 Coupes 61480 100%
Tech / Sync 20190 32.84%
Black Exterior 16040 26.09%
6-Speed Manual 10605 17.25%
Performance Package 2847 4.63%
Recaro Racing Seats 535 0.87%

I'm really surprised at the low numbers on both the Recaro seats and V6 Performance Package.

If you just apply the color percentage alone to V6 Coupes with Recaros you get 139. Then if you factor in that only 1out of every 6 V6 Coupes are manuals and then the low production number of the V6 PP, I would think that we are easily talking about less than 100

Everywhere I go I get complements on the car. The seats are very unique and they work. When I'm sliding the car around you stay planted in the seat. The 19" wheels also makes the car more distinct and standout from other coupes. While they are similar to the GT/CS wheels they are different. Maybe 6000 cars with wheels like mine.

All that said these are factory options and the neat thing about the Mustang is all of the great aftermarket parts that are available. Every Mustang can be unique in it's own way! I'm going to make very few changes to my car. I'm adding Borla's, and a Super Snake gunmetal stripe to match the color accent of the wheels. I'm also leaning towards Silver Horse Racing louvers, much pricier than the stick on's but boy do they look incredible....

Deysha is a Ford rep on a different mustang forum. Easy to find using a search engine.

Probably the rarity is the most V6s were in stock already. The dealers only want to add things that get a lot of profit and that they can be done at the dealership. Adding stripes, Remote Starts, Alarms, Window Tinting, Undercoating, Paint Sealant are just a few. That would account for the Recaro Seats.

The Performance package is kind of short on upgrades. Here's the list:
•Strut-tower brace
•Upsized front sway bar and SVT rear sway bar
•Unique front springs
•Unique front and rear brake calipers
•19"x8.5" Foundry Black painted machined-aluminum wheels
•255/40R19 Summer only tires
•Unique stability control calibration
•Gloss black side mirrors
•3.31 limited-slip rear-axle

Most people want to lower the car, so Upgraded Springs and Struts plus the mounts are ordered. They also are putting on the Upgraded Front and Rear Sway Bars. This also means a Tower Strut.

The mirrors you can do yourself. Lastly that leaves the Gears. Most people want the 3.73 or 4.10 gears.

Your car is (Sic) but I wonder if these statistics would be close to the same with the 2014 V8s.

I had the same exact stock (bar the recaros). I sold my wheels for a good bit of profit and have my springs sitting in my garage.

This car was in stock. I drove 250 miles to get it. The next closest Mustang with manual transmission and Performance Pack was 800+ miles.
The Recaro Seats are a factory installed option. $1595. They are the same seats that come on a GT500 sans leather and the embossed cobra emblem. If they aren't on the window sticker then the dealer can install a set for you at $3,000 plus labor! But mine is 1 of 535 2014 Mustang Coupes that has Recaro Seats installed on the assembly line.

•255/40R19 Summer only tires
•Unique stability control calibration
•Gloss black side mirrors
•3.31 limited-slip rear-axle

The performance package is a steal!
Ford strut tower brace with the unique PP engine cover kit. $300
GT front sway bar and GT500 rear. $400
stiffer springs $200
GT front and rear brakes w/ performance friction pads $???
19" Unique to PP only aluminum wheels $1000
Pirelli P Zero 255/40ZR19 Max Performance Tires $1300
Mustang GT Sport Mode for Advance Trac $???
Gloss Black Side Mirrors $80
GT500 Lower Rear Control Arms $135
3.31 limited slip rear axle $155
Total not including labor/shipping/taxes $3570!

The wheels and tires are worth more than the $1995...

Above all, the $1995 factory installed Performance Package does NOT void my Ford factory or ESP warranty!
The car is quicker to both 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile with no additional mods and it handles like a slot car.

Thanks for the post badka2ma
I was looking for some production numbers on the Perf Pkg, and came across this thread. Totally forgot about Deysha. I've got a '14 Race Red with the only option being the PP.

I would agree that the Performance Package option is very rare. I had to go over 400 miles to get mine. In fact, it is more rare than a 2012 or 2013 Boss 302, where each year is well over 3,000 produced. Crazy! But, it unfortunately doesn't make the V6 PP collectible, and doubt it ever will; but, definitely more fun than a base V6. I would slightly disagree with a couple things though...
--- 1) I would state PP production to be a percentage of all mustangs and not just V6's. That's just over 2% of all 2014 Mustangs produced have the Performance Package. And it's about the same 2% for all of the V6 PP years.
--- 2) I don't think anyone pays sticker for a V6 Mustang. I was a little over 20% off MSRP including rebates. That being said, this makes the $1,995 for the PP actually $1,600, and for that price, that is one helluva bargain. Ford could have offered it for $2,495 MSRP and I still would have wanted it. Maintaining the factory warranty is awesome

I almost got a 2014 PP, but ended up choosing the base model. The only ones I could find had the sync system, which I despise. Also, after doing research I wanted more gear and really wish Ford gave us V6 owners options like the V8's. At least an option for 3.55. I do like the black with those rims, sharp looking car. I figure by the time i'm done with mine I'll be way over that package total.

Currently:
Strut tower brace, BMR LCA's, BMR pan hard bar and brace, AM 19" rims with Pzeros, GT/CS upper and lower grille, 20% tint, Flowmaster force II axle backs and Starkey lower fog light kit.

To come:
MPT tunes & tuner
3.55 gears with carbon fiber disks
1 piece ds
BMR adjustable UCA with bracket
GT500 spoiler
twin 10" Le Mans stripes (not sure what color)
Steeda adjustable rear sway bar
BMR, Steeda or SR springs
Caster camber plates (not sure what brand)
Koni orange shocks

Total cost: More than I want to think about. LOL

Mine was one of two built like it. Most items were common. Sterling Grey was the most popular color in 2013. However, the stone seats are rare as most dealers stocked black. Of course, I am going by statistical odds, but I know of the second car, because the dealer I ordered from, liked mine so much, they ordered a second one just like it.

Most of the magazine reviews I read tested a performance package v6. Drove my gf mustang and figured the pp would fix everything I did not like about her mustang. No dealer in Michigan had a pp with manual and leather seats. I ended up ordering a DIB, tan leather seats, comfort package, and manual transmission. Took eight weeks but not bad since I just rode my motorcycles and only got rained on once, started getting real cold the last weekend. Been my daily driver since. Only mods so far are a mpt performance 93 tune and snow tire set for winter. Since gas is cheaper I left the 93 tune on for the winter.

I knew when buying my car I was going to mod it. I had researched 3.7 mustangs before purchasing. I originally tried to get a white 2013 base auto with pp and recaros. My dealer in Alabama had found it in Indianapolis. Supposedly the deal was a go but I get a call the next day and the dealership in Indianapolis changed their mind. So I ended up with my SGM 2013 base auto with pp and appearance package.
