2014 V6 with GT500 stripes Problems?

I tried searching for an existing thread but couldn't find anything on this. My detailer is saying adding Shelby stripes on a v6 mustang has problems and isn't worth the time and money.

I just want to hear some opinions from you all. Is it really too difficult? He said there is too many added grooves and contours on the new mustang.

Thanks guys!

This is the look I want:

Sounds like he just doesn't want to do the job and is lazy.
A bunch of people on here have them and they go on fine.
That is a bunch of BS he is telling you.
There are no problems.
If you want them, get them done by someone else.

Okay thanks for the quick reply.

I haven't ordered the stripes yet. I want to get the stripes to look exactly like the one in the pic in my original post. Do you have any suggestions on where to buy? I've only looked at these so far: Matte Black GT500 Style Mustang Stripes - 10in (05-14 All) - Free Shipping - AmericanMuscle

That was the kit I purchased for my car. Good kit comes with a lot of extra vinyl. I would recommend it.

I did have a problem with the vinyl on the hood bubbling after a few days, it was only on one of the hood stripes though, so it was probably just a bad strip of vinyl.
AM was great and gave me a refund on the kit.
Was going to order the same kit again, but I had to have my hood repainted under warranty a week later and that ruined my stripe plans. The body shop had a guy come in and do some custom hood stripes for me for free since I had just put a kit on myself .

It's a good kit I would deff. recommend it, and if there was a problem AM would send you a new kit free I bet, they are great.

Okay great!!! I will probably purchase those then.

Why did you have to repaint? It wasn't anything to do with the stripes was it?

+1 for the lazy installer. Does Shelby have magical paint that allows stripes to work better? Hahaha

Some people...

As long as it's installed properly you should have any issues.

2014 V6 with GT500 stripes Problems?

I had mine professionally done and LOVE them! People gawk and take pics all the time. I would highly recommend getting a professional to instal them as it seemed both time consuming and tedious.

OP, I have a model that has stripes and can sell you it for a great price. Its the Shelby Cobra-Boss Rooster 3.7. The stripping holds up great.

I'm going back and forth between deciding which I want. Stripes or a new hood. The vents in the GTs are freaking nice and don't know if I could pass on those.

This is the hood I would buy if I decided that route vs. stripes.

Thoughts??

I never ever did stripes before. I just did it on my GT. ....they are the GT500 stripes from AM. Tedious but very achievable. I watched quite a few videos. Made a few mistakes but AM gives you a lot of extra. They look amazing. ...makes the car......look great with the hood vents. Search my name, I just posted a few pix.

Yeah, dealers don't make enough profit off of something like that after the sale so they usually make up some reason why they can't or won't. I went to my dealer to have my window re-tinted and happened to check out a '14 GT on the floor with a "Cobra Stripe Kit" installed. The little sticker on the side said that the stripes bumped the cost up $1300! A top notch vinyl kit with pro install would only run $500 at most. No way someone would pay that after the sale...

Wow, exactly the same and I'd rather buy from cervini because it's a well known brand with good quality. Thanks for sharing!

I might reccommend taking a look for at another detailer or maybe a body shop if he's reluctant to do this! Those are an interesting color! I'm not sure if I'm losing my vision but they sort of look like a Matte Graphite...Or Matte Black, could just be the lighting there!

As it's being said we will give a little extra to be on the safe side. Our Vinyl also has an 8 year warranty so if there's ever any issue with fading I'd want to be the first to hear about it!

Let me know if you have any questions at all I'm always here to help!

I would avoid a non-interested installer. It takes skill and if they are not interested avoid them. Just find someone else and go for it.

Yep that's why I said "after" the sale. Those finance guys can make something like that disappear into the paperwork - you don't realize you paid 4x more than you should have until it's too late.
