Hurst Shifter? CAI? Or....

Got some money to spend and trying to figure out what to get my remaining cash.

I ordered a J&M pan hard bar, MMD hood scoop and the. MMD painted satellite cover. I have around 300.00 left. I'm leaning towards the Hurst shifter. Although I do want to eventually get a CAI. I will not be doing a tune though, I need to retain my warranty. I know the benefits won't be the same but I really like the way it looks and sounds.

Any one have any thoughts on the shifter?

If u like the sound of the cai I say just get the Hurst shifter and a Gt sound tube. The tube will give u the sound of a cai and u can get one for like 20$ and if u like the look of a clean under hood u can get the airaid tube

I would say the short shifter. You'll notice that more than a CAI. I would recommend the Barton or MGW shifter though. It has the whole bottom bracket that will be so much better than the Hurst top mounted.

Thanks guys. I was thinking the Barton shifter as well, but I really like the look of the Hurst.

What's the sound tube? I'm not sure I know anything about that....

Not sure what exactly you mean by like the way the shifter looks. The shifter is covered by the boot and knob so you don't actually see the shifter. I would suggest reading reviews of how these shifters function. If your car is a DD the biggest downside of the hurst is that it eliminates the reverse lockout. So reverse is right next to first so better be careful it's in the right gear when taking off. It does come with the warning light but it's not a functional lock between gears.

The handle of the Hurst shifter sticks out more than any shifter. Check out more pics.

I'm confused about the reverse lock out though. I read a description that says it has it...

From looking at the website it does still have a reverse lock out but instead of pushing down you have to pull towards the driver (spring loaded). They claim there is a noticeable difference between first and reverse but I don't think its as clear cut as the push down reverse lockout which is why they have the light option. So you can no longer push left until it hits the block and go up to first because it would go to reverse. I guess it wouldn't be a big deal once you get used to it but honestly could see a case where someone not familiar with the shifter would go into reverse instead of first.

MGW shifter-

The Barton and Ford racing are the same. Both good but the MGW seems to be the absolute best your gonna find.
The Hurst is made to sell cheap and it is. Sooner or later it will get you in trouble going into reverse when you thing your in first.

Yeah the Hurst is out. It just looks too cheap...

I leaning toward the Barton. MGW is a little too expensive for me. For a DD it's more than I need to spend.

What about the Steeda tri ax?

FYI if you want an air aid intake now is the time to buy. You can get them brand new from American muscle for around 220 brand new between the air aid rebate and 6% am discount!

I love my barton + 2 post bracket, you wont be disapointed. Important safety tip, when re installing the dust boot, make sure it doesnt get caught under the Reverse lock out pin. I was having to push down SO hard to get my car into reverse until i figured out what had happened, now its no harder than stock.

Good stuff! Post up some pictures of your new MMD Parts. I'd love to check them out!

For your new mod.. I think a CAI and/or Shifter will be great. They're both great mods in my opinion. I have the SR Shifter on my 2011 GT and a JLT intake on my 2011 GT. I'm a big fan of both!

If you're not going to go with a Tune, I would recommend the short shifter for now!

Hope this helps. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance! You know how to reach us..
