2013-14 Taillights on a 2010-12

I know that the 13-14 taillights are a slightly different shape from 10-12 and leave a small gap when installed. How bad is the gap? Seen a few pics on instagram but does anyone on here have close up pics. Or opinions

The gap is hardly noticeable if your car is darker colored. You'll probably be the only one to know the gap is even there

My car is LavaRed. You think that is dark enough?

Lucky man, that is a beautiful color. Not too common on mustangs but I love it. I would think that it is dark enough. But the OEM taillights are so expensive, although they do look the best IMO. Did you find a good deal somewhere?

Does anyone know if the reverse is possible. I never really got an answer on a previous post. I am still at least thinking about switching to the 10-12 from the 13's

Thanks, looks black in the shade. But not really just on eBay, wouldn't spend 1700 on AmericanMuscle though. I bought a daily driver beater for cheaper haha

The reverse is not possible with modifying the rear bumper or doing a full bumper swap. Maybe you can find someone willing to trade tail lights and rear bumpers with you.

If you are going from 2011-12 to 13 taillights do you need anything else besides the taillights themselves

Just the harnesses that pass through into the trunk area because the 13+ tail lights have a different connector. That's one thing watch for when someone is selling them. Make sure they are including those harnesses. You need one for each tail light

You'd need a different lower bumper, unless you want to cut part of your 13 bumper

Yes, the 11-12 bumper, unless you want to cut into the 13 bumper.

My car is a 2012. So I only need taillights and they will plug in and work?

yes, but you will have a slight gap at the bottom of the taillights.

Still gonna need the 2013+ tail light harnesses like I mentioned in my previous post. Most people include them with the tail lights when they sell but definitely double check with the seller prior to doing the cash.

I'm going to be buying an 11-12 gt within the next couple weeks and really want the 13-14 tail lights.. how much should I expect to spend on the conversion? Can I buy a new set or do I need to find somebody willing to sell theirs?

There's been a guy trying to sell them in the classifieds for a long time. He hasn't indicated if they're sold yet or not, when someone asked yesterday.

Will a 13-14 rear bumper fit on a 11-12 with 13-14 taillights?

Buying used will be much cheaper, but expect to still pay ~$800 or more just for the tail lights.

Yes, the '13+ bumper and tail lights fit our '10-'12 rear end.

That's nothing. Brand new, you can expect to pay twice as much. I think AM has them for $1800

Yeah it's like 1700, crazy. EBay is best way to go. Or maybe find a wrecked one and buy that way. Where can I find paint if I were to buy a 13 rear bumper (unpainted) or respray

Any reputable paint/body shop should be able to color match the new bumper for you. Do some looking around and ask for quotes. Another good idea is to ask the shops if you can see some of their work.
