Just picked up Borla S Type!

Hey there buddies!

After many months of shopping around, endless YouTube videos and a mind numbing amount of exhaust thread lurking (we all know how many exhaust threads are created on this forum lol), I've finally picked up the Borla S Type for my 14!

Backstory; I was about to pull the plug on the Roush exhaust (had the checkout screen open, all details filled out) even though I wanted the Borla but didn't want to pay the extra $150. Then, I decided to check Craigslist just ONE LAST TIME! Best decision ever. Found borlas freshly posted and snagged them the next day. Extremely cheap!

So here they are

Now the point of this thread... What would be the recommended path to take to get these cleaned up and polished? I've tried searching on the forums but mostly found stuff on cleaning everything but exhausts (app search may not be the best either).

I'm looking forward to get these on. I'll post comparison pics and vids, even though there are plenty on the web. One more opinion can't hurt the public!

Woohoo! I got a pair of ATAKs super cheap too and am in the same boat as you! Borla sells an exhaust cleaner. You should probably get a new pair of exhaust tips judging from the pic you posted. I BELIEVE that should run you about $120 from Borla.... I will probably be getting new tips too since there is a slight mark on one of mine, I will see tomorrow when they come!
Grats on the snag, I managed to get my ATAKs at just about 1/3 the price of them new from AM ($700)., paid $250 + shipping so around $300 for the ATAKs. What a steal. Hope yours was similarly good!

Haha dammit I wanted those!!

At first he posted in the Baltimore CL by accident and when I saw they were $250 I was all over that. Then he told me he was all the way down there. I couldn't make it all the way down there from Delaware in time.

Haha congrats on the pick up!

Sorry! I'm glad. I did snag them for $250. It was such a good deal that I didn't even bother negotiating lower. Give the man his money when he's asking such a reasonable steal of a price.

He has a pretty sick modded v6 as well.

Woohoo glad we both got them for steals. I will see what the true condition of them are when they arrive tomorrow night. I just couldn't pass up a $700 exhaust for $250. I wanted the S types and was going to spend $600 on then at the AM show but they were out of stock . Everything happens for a reason and I ended up only spending half that! Glad you got such a good deal they are going to sound amazing. Why did he say he was selling them or for that cheap ? Just curious

Grabber, he said he's constantly being deployed out to sea and wants to get a 2015 GT or an Audi RS6 when he comes back next time.

Well damn, that's a big leap. Good for him. Sucks he is deployed out to sea, many friends I know have almost gone crazy being deployed to sea for months at a time

I noticed that when I checked their site. No replacement tips.

These used ones I picked up have some imperfections but I don't think you'd be able to see them on the part that'll actually stick out of the back.

While I have them off the car, I figured it couldn't hurt to see what they'd look like dipped. Easy peel off if it doesn't look good.

Looks kinda cool dipped. I may go that route. Think it won't get too hot?

The website says the plasti dip holds up to 200F, I doubt the tips go anywhere near that temperature... So it shouldn't matter.

Can you show me how they look with the black tips installed on your car? For some reason I never thought about that and since I'm going for a blackout look, I might just have to do that to my car.

I am ready to turn some heads

I don't have the space to put it on myself and the earliest appointment I could get is Monday.

Gonna try calling a few more places when I get a chance lol

Just do it in a driveway or street! Don't even need to jack the car up. Takes about an hour/hour and a half most of the time is spent getting the stockers off

Ah, that sucks
Make sure you don't pay more than $75 for the install.... should only be 40 minutes of work tops for them.....

The tips definitely do get VERY hot. They probably do get close to 200F after a long road trip. Don't ask me how i know that

It started pouring so these are all I got so far.

The sound is amazing. Throw your stock away ASAP and put on a pair of S Types! :p

Darn it. I can't make up my mind. Thought I was going Roush axle-backs, but now I've thrown Borla back in the mix (also looked at their ATAK).

Dipping the tips might be worth a try too. Nice.

Keep us posted once you get them on. My girlfriend is loving my borlas because it means she doesn't have to drive for the next few days because all I want to do is let my stallion roar lol.

I'll try to make some videos tomorrow.
