Can't Datalog

Hi All!

I tried to find threads on my issue and haven't found anything.

I need to create a datalog, but can't get a laptop to recognize the SCT tuner.

I've tried various connection steps to no avail. I have also tried two different laptops, both running Win7 x86.

I have read FAQs at the SCT Website and found various write ups on the Web of similar issues but have yet to find a solution. My firmware is Version 1.2.159.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

So you are opening the Live link II software and when the "test connection" screen appears you are clicking it and nothing is happening?

Stupid question, but lets just start from the top here:
1. Is the SCT connected to both the computer and the car
2. The engine does not need to be running to test connection, but the accessories need to at least be on
3. does your computer recognize the SCT at all? For instance, can you recognize the SCT using the device updater?
4. Are you sure the SCT device drivers are properly installed on your computer? Try just plugging the sct into the computer but do not open any programs.

Hi Voltwings:

Answers below!!

1. Is the SCT connected to both the computer and the car
>Yes.

2. The engine does not need to be running to test connection, but the accessories need to at least be on
>I have the key on but the motor isn't running.

3. does your computer recognize the SCT at all? For instance, can you recognize the SCT using the device updater?
>When I plug the SCT into the PC I hear the "recognize tone" and see the message the driver is being installed. When I look in Device Manager I see the tuner installed with no exclamation marks.

4. Are you sure the SCT device drivers are properly installed on your computer? Try just plugging the sct into the computer but do not open any programs.
>see answer above.

Man thank you so much for your help. I'm a Dell IT pro. But this thing is making me feel like I don't have a friggen clue about nothing.

PS. I tried various combinations of connections. I.e., car/tuner then laptop while on, car/tuner laptop off with tuner connected etc...

Trust me, i'm used to using Cobb, and while the SCT software has some neat features it is a complete pain in the *** compared to others out there. I really dont know what to tell you man, have you datalogged the vehicle previously, or is this your first attempt at doing so?

I was logging my GFs car at the track a while back and the Live Link software just crapped out on me. It wouldnt recognize the SCT even after unplugging / replugging / closing / opening / turning the car off / turning the car on, then just randomly in the staging lanes it decided to connect again ...

Lol that was for a different platform, just saying it was what i was used to. Ok, lets go back to the beginning since its your first time. How do you know it is not recognizing the SCT? Does the little green button in the bottom right hand corner (it says continue or data log or configure something ... wish i had my computer on me so i could do screen shots) stay grey and not become clickable, or are you actually getting a connection error message?
