2007 350z vs 2012 mustang v6 stock

My buddy has a 350z and he wants to race with me. Stock for stock who would win? He has an auto and I have a manual.

350Z's are slow, especially the automatics.

If you can get a decent launch and nail your shifts, you should have it easily.

An 07? In a drag race you should beat him pretty easily. On a road course, he might get you if you're completely stock.

What gear do they come with stock? He may have less horsepower, but a 2.73 certainly isnt doing you any favors ... I'd say it could be a drivers race, but i imagine the 350 auto is pretty lazy.

Looks like a 3.35 for the 350 if the info I found is correct.

Granted, their transmission ratios are probably a lot different, thats probably a little more "sporty" than a 2.73 lol. Lets do some youtube research.

Edit: Looking like mid to low 14s at around 95-100 just based on the few i've seen. You should win still, but might be a better race than people are thinking depending on how well you can drive.

I traded in a 2006 Z for my Mustang. It was a fun little car to drive. I had the auto and it was pretty quick. The 2007 came with the HR motor which had a higher rev and a little more HP. All things being equal Id say the Z would be a little quicker. I say this because of the weight difference in the 2 cars.

2007 350z vs 2012 mustang v6 stock

Didn't the HR motor start in 08?

If you have a base coupe manual, your mustang is faster in a straight line but would eat it on the track.

If you have the v6 performance package your even faster in a straight line and depending on the course, as good as or better than the 350z.

No talking about street racing which is what you are doing bro. Refer to it as a closed road in mexico that you are racing on

They CAN be fast. If you have deep pockets. But in retrospect you can say that about any car lol.

do you think the 350z can be considered a ricer in its stock form?

Not stock. Ricer just refers to someone going overboard with, cheap, goofy looking, useless modifications. My buddy has a heavily modified Prelude, but it's done correctly so I don't consider it ricer.

Depends who you ask though.

I got my mustang from a Nissan Dealership here in Southern California and it was parked next to a 2008 350z i believe. My parents doesnt want the Mustang cause of the whole Ford stereotype that it wont last long. But i fell in love with the Mustang the first time i saw it. Then i realized how a stock Z looks ricey imo but i know what you mean.

Race against one in corners and you will think differently. They aren't "fast" but they are well built.

Yeah, mustangs aren't exactly known for their corner carving abilities.

Straight line, Mustang wins. Throw a corner there and the Z wins.
