New 2014 MT82 base. Mods?

Hey all,
I'm new to the forums, but I have been trying to learn about what mods I should take on. I have already changed out wheels and tires to much lighter and better looking wheels. I am interested in gears and tuning. I do a lot of highway driving, but the 2.73 s aren't doing it for me. What would you guys suggest putting in? I am also looking for a good safe tune. Any thoughts?

Welcome!

Bama is the most popular tune and as far as gears go 3.73 would be the way to go.

I would love to get the 3.73s, I'm not too worried about 1-2 mpg, but do you get a lot of engine drone/high rims over 80?

Do you have 3.55? If so, do you enjoy them or do u ever wish you had gone bigger? I drive 80-90 on a lot of highways here in TX so I don't want too much gear.

Mpt or Lund really worth it over Bama or Steeda? I won't be tracking it too much. I think 4.10s may be a little much for my driving and the mt. They sound like it would be fun off the line though.

Op, cheap first mod you should do is a Barton shifter bracket!! Get rid of the factory one. You'll enjoy your transmission so much more.

2013 3.7 Manual Candy apple red metallic,
GT 500 stripes, painted side mirror covers, GT 500 spoiler, 2010 GT premium wheels with Pirelli P-zero tires, upper and lower front billet grille, Barton shifter bracket, Airaid Cold air intake, S.R lowering springs, J&M adjustable panhard bar, Boss 302 strut tower brace, 3.73 ford racing gears, Bama tuned, BBK shorty headers, Roush Axel backs.

I went with 3.55 gears and a mpt tune. 2500 rpm's at 80 mph. I do a lot of highway driving here in Wyoming and that setup works for me

Thanks! I have noticed the shifter can get a bit cantankerous.

Gears are one thing you don't want to go cheap on with the install. Even if you have to pay a little more go to a reputable place that does gears often.

I agree. The question now is what's the difference between 3.55 and 3.73 up to 100?

Recently I've been linking to that in every gear thread. It's like the gear thread to end all gear threads, haha.

New 2014 MT82 base. Mods?

Ok, think I've decided on 3.55 gears, Bama or Steeda tunes, Springs(1-1 1/2 in drop), and the shifter bracket mentioned. Anyone see any probs with this initial setup?

That's a great start! Don't forget the adjustable pan hard bar when lowering.

I am very happy with my Steeda tune and intake, got a great deal on the steeds ultralite springs through Sam Strano of stranoparts.com (any questions about handling, he is the guy, having won solo nationals several times in mustangs, also he is usually about 10-15% cheaper than the competition). For a gear install, try calling Vorshlag, they are a well known mustang shop in the road racing world, reasonably priced, and also in Texas (Austin, I believe).

Proving to my fellow racers that the disdain that some GT drivers have for V6 drivers is unfounded, one results archive at a time since 2013.
