2010-2014 center console

Alright so i was poking around and took out my center console. I noticed that the silver trim for the shift boot looks like you can not remove it. Is there a way to remove the silver piece without messing anything up?

Pull off the whole center console and take it off from the bottom. Easy

Yeah if you pull the console off you can see the tabs holding in the chrome trim ring.

weird mine doesn't have any kinda tab it looks like it was plastic welded to the inner piece for the center console. Ive been thinking about making a mold out of the inner piece to lay down some carbon fiber and make a true carbon fiber piece for the car. Thinking something like a matte carbon fiber.

Yeah I removed the inner piece on the center console I can remove the shift boot but not the chrome ring. I'll probably just experiment when I can and put spots for screws on the carbon fiber piece to act like what I currently have. Its like they used vibration to melt the plastic over to hold the piece in. Damn the luck. It looks like you have the 2013-2014 in ypur avatar? Maybe they changed it between the 2010-2012 and 2013-2014

The whole console has to come off. Look at these pics. You need to do this:

That part does come off its the chrome around the shift boot that doesn't detach from the rest of the inner console piece where the black arrow is pointing.

Yes, thats what Im trying to tell you. To access it you need to remove the whole console and then you'll see the tabs. If you try to pry it off or just pull it you'l probably break it.

Ive never taken that part off so Im not sure. Just be careful and work slow so you dont crack it. It will be very fragile.

I was thinking of probably using a dremel when i get around to it. where those are at ill probably have it threaded for small screws to secure it back. I'm not a huge fan of the "carbon fiber" stick on pieces. Currently working on getting a price up for a milled aluminum anodized piece for the cup holder. removing the top plate and replacing it with that piece kinda the same way.

Heck mine keeps popping out of place when I take a hard left. I bet I could just pop it off with a small screwdriver. Wish it was welded in...

Yeah when I replaced my shifter boot to change my shifter, I ended up breaking the old shifter boot. Not sure why they made it so hard to get off.

yes they made it rather hard I was trying to earlier and its the two tabs on the side that are the most difficult to remove from the shift boot
