Weird new lower RPM squeel..

Has anyone heard this before? Around 1000rpm and below, this weird new squeel occurs that goes away once you go above 1000rpm. I've got nobody home to listen under the hood and see what it is, so I figured I'd ask you guys. Here's a video where you can notice it as it's coming down from revving. Yeah, i know, the video is out of sync with the audio for some stupid reason.

anyone ever hear this sound before? turn your volume up..you'll hear it when the 2nd rev is coming down, which on the video looks like 1500rpm.

I think most 3.7 owners are familiar with that sound. Dealer use to call it normal... now that mine's out of warranty I'm sure they have a fix for it. :-p

reallY? any idea what it is? it seriously just started, and it's not always there..as you noticed the 3rd and 4th rev, when it came down it wasn't there. and after it got warmer the other day from idling a bit, it didn't really do it. is it a belt? pulley?

Should be the alternator belt and tensioner.

I've been trying to figure this out too! I've looked high and low. It's not coming from the serpentine belt. It sounds like it's further back.

I had my car into Ford and they said they couldn't duplicate it.

because it tends to go away when warmed up.. so on the drive there, it'll sound ok when you get there. it's so annoying. here's a video I just made after a short drive and it warmed up.. and its not there anymore. wtf.

I had the same sound when my car was 200 miles old. Brought it to dealer and they told me the ac compressor seized.

my ac still works fine though, and it doesn't matter if it's on or off when it makes the noise. hmm.

I've bring my car into the dealership for at least 5 times now. They still claimed that they could not hear it. I think there is a tsb for it. Forgot the number but even I brought up the tsb number they still said they could not do anything unless they actually hear it themselves

lol it really sounds like Ford mechanics are kind of dicks that just want to get you out of there unless you're making them big money.

if i brought it in, i'd bring the video and say, yeah this is the noise and it won't happen because the car is warmed up now. so there's your proof. now what.

They told me that they will have to be able to hear it personally. Video of prove won't help much.

lol of course. so ridiculous, when clearly it's an issue so many people face. how can they not know what it is if it's widespread?

I get the same sound, my car started doing it intermittently at 100 miles. Slightly off topic, but when I make right turns such as a cloverleaf interchange, I get a strange electric buzzing sound from the steering rack that only happens when the AC is on, does not matter at what speed it blows, same sound during right turns.

Proving to my fellow racers that the disdain that some GT drivers have for V6 drivers is unfounded, one results archive at a time since 2013.
