BBK Long tube headers and BBK Catted X-Pipe

Hello fellow V6'ers i had a question for you all. I recently got a set of BBK longtube headers and Catted Xpipe installed with my Roush axlebacks. The sound it made was decent anywhere below 3k RPM's but on startup and above 3k RPMS it just sounded so raspy i could not stand it. Today i took off the roush axlebacks to see if that would solve that issue and it did sorta. much quieter like i wanted but now it just sounds like a rice can above 3k RPM's. I know the Roush exhaust is more aggressive due to the size of the chamber, but would you all reccomend a different/ more tame axleback you think would be quiter but still sound mean without the rasp? i did really love the regular roush setup with the stock headers.

I know im rambling quite a bit, just want to get this sorted out. If nothing comes up i may just have the headers removed.

Thanks a ton!
Rex

If the rasp is not something you want to deal with your best bet is to weld in some resonators or go Shorty headers w/ Stock H. I have BBK Lt's with O/r X. Its not as bad as I kept my stock mufflers on for now. You could try to get a H to deepen the sound.

The other thing I have heard of people doing is going to 3' piping. But im not sure how much that would take away from power or not.

Hope that helps.

Resonators/glasspacks help a lot at removing rasp. You get them welded in just after the mid-pipe. 18" length at a minimum, but I went with 22". If that doesn't take enough rasp out, then I would recommend a tamer axleback. A few options would be Bassani, MBRP, or Borla S-types.

Hmmm how much do glasspacks or resonators usually cost for the unit/install?

I think I paid $50-60 for a pair of 22" Magnaflow glasspacks.

Just get shorties and the ford racing x pipe. Long tubes always sounds like doodoo on our cars in my opinion

I just put in the Force 2's as well with Longtubes and O/R X.. I was running with the stock mufflers for a while waiting on a BBK set to come into production but I had metal banging around in my muffler :/

I personally like it but still going to weld in some resonators as I want to quiet it down a little more.
