I need your opinions on Roush vs CS grilles!

Hello ME Crew,

I just removed that crappy little stock spoiler from my 2014 black stang and put on a 3dcarbon gt500 style spoiler on today. I must say, MASSIVE improvement.

My next quest is to get the front looking meaner to match my new rear. I have been looking at the Roush upper&lower grilles as well as the California Special upper&lower. I am torn between the two because I think that they both look great.

I am basically looking for your opinions on both grilles and which one you would put on your car and why. Trying to get a different perspective on the grilles to help sway me towards one more than the other so I can pull the trigger. At the moment, I am 50% roush, 50% cs. Give me those opinions to help push me towards 51% of one!

THANK YOU!

(here are 2 pics I googled for anyone who may not know what they look like)

CALIFORNIA SPECIAL

ROUSH

I would say Roush. Imo, the fewer bars look better. I had something identical to the CS version there on my V6 bumper before I swapped. It was OK, but I much prefer the look now.

I agree. I think they both look better than stock but I also like the fewer bars.

I have the Roush and love it. Make sure to do the upper and lower. It looks weird if you only do the upper grille.

There is supposed to be a method where you can use a rag to pull it off...I didnt do that. I took my front bumper off, its very easy.

Did you go with the Roush lower delete or the standard Roush lower? I am very persuaded towards pulling the trigger on the Roush set. Have you noticed an increase in bugs/debris hitting/getting stuck in your radiator/condenser(I'm a noob, I never know which one is right behind the grille).

My main reason for considering the CS is that it may add a little bit of protection because of those blocked off spots but at the cost of styling. It may just be me being paranoid though.

The Roush does look much better. I was thinking of doing the tribar emblem with it. Or should I leave it clean.

Also, thank you to all the others who have replied thus far!

The thing with the CS grille is those very close together bars get dinged up a lot. When I had my similar grille, I had to touch it up regularly. Although that may be a paint quality issue, just food for thought.

As for bugs, you will get a bit more, but with a good wash every week or so it's no problem. The bugs get burnt up and usually wash right off.

JoeyM91, that's a good point. I'd hate to have to constantly touch it up. And this is why I love this forum. The feedback you can get is priceless!

Is it a v6 premium? Because no joke i just grabbed the front and pulled and it came right out. Taped my front bumper to prevent scratching. I saw in the cdc perfomance grille installation video that you can just pull it so i figured id try it. I was nervous but worked out just fine and the gt bumper just popped right in. Saved a ton of time just be careful for sure.

I have considered it. I think it gives the meanest look out there but the big open space kinda scares me and I don't want that worry every time I'm riding to class or work with all those construction trucks and what not flicking crap at me.

Dump trucks scare me too, but if you look the inside of the gt500 style grille has a large deflector in the center that covers the hood latch. The area of possible inlet is really about the same as the standard grille. I've had my grille for about six months and have yet to have an issue with anything going into it. Dump trucks on the other hand have put a chip in my windshield and two super cool bear metal craters in my hood. Honestly why are they permitted on the highway?

Interesting... Do you have the stock lower grille with it or did you change that as well?

As for dump trucks and such... ya... after a week of owning my new 2014 black stallion I noticed these chips on my driver side bumper and thought to myself... did Ford miss a few spots while painting? Nope, thanks Interstate Bazooka Rock Launchers!

In the photo you can see the stock lower grille still there. Someday I'll get the roush lower grille delete. CDC never made the gt500 lower grille available.

I bought the gt grill from ebay. Had the brackets already installed. Just snapped them in. In my opinion this is one of the meanest stock looks available.

I'm not a big fan of the Boss grille. I went to my local Roush dealership today to check out the grille up close and in person and must say that it looked 30x nicer than the pictures do them justice.

I've now eliminated the California Special grille and going back and forth between

1) Roush Upper & Roush Lower grille
2) CDC Performance & Roush Lower grille

This was the dealership car. It also helped that it was in black, like mine to show me exactly what my car would look like.

With the CDC i'm not a big fan of having to spray the radiator black and cutting out parts of the car. Plus roush has two lower grille options to choose from as well. I like cdc just not the painting and cutting. Not to mention all the bugs getting on the radiator.

So, I just received my roush upper and lower (yep, went with that combo).

Can anyone who has both of them tell me if the texture of the upper differs from the lower? My upper is a much smoother feel while the lower is much rougher. It's kinda like the upper has a glossy feel while the lower has a matte feel. Is that normal ?
