Tire pressure monitoring system :/

Hello forums, I recently ran over rail road track pretty fast recently And immediately after my TPMS light came on and on "TMP Sensor Fault" appears in the dash.

I want to replace the sensor, i assume it cracked or something. However, the dash doesn't tell me which one is faulted, or how many faulted.

How would i be able to find out which it is, id prefer not to not take all the tires off to inspect the sensors.

That light can also indicate your tires pressures need to be checked, not necessarily that a sensor has failed. Did you check your tire pressures?

Well I've had a "Tire pressure low" light come on before, so aren't they different? I check my pressure on a weekly basis, i run thin tires

Yeah the fault and just low pressure are different. Wouldn't hurt to go ahead and check the pressure regardless.

As for diagnosing which one is damaged, I'd say go to Ford. They likely have a machine that will communicate with each sensor and find the one that isn't responding. Much like the calibration tool you can buy for aftermarket wheels.

I stand corrected then lol. Carry on.

I would not however go to Ford, you will likely pay the most there. I've found Pepboys has the best prices on anything tire related (other than maybe the tires themselves).

or a small piece of painters tape over the light.....only takes 30 seconds

I just put on my cold weather shoes which don't have sensors.

Doesn't bother me. When you shut off traction control there's a light for that as well.

the msg in the info center goes away with pressing reset (it does come on next time you start) but the painters tape covers the light and does not leave residue. I would have paid more for a set up with TPMS still in them but ain't gonna go the the expense/chance of rim damage to add it.

Ford has a tool that checks each sensor and they sell the sensor for like $3
