Ok, I think I am getting it now...

I think I am getting this down now as far as modding goes. I have spent countless hours reading thread after thread about mods. Since this was my first domestic vehicle I have ever bought, I was nervous to start doing mods. Just wanted to thank everyone who was helpful enough to provide me information when needed.

So far my mods are:
MBRP cat back exhaust'
K&N CAI (yes, i understand these are glorified noise makers from what I have read)

Next Mods:
Just ordered my FRPP x-pipe cut and clamp. (No fun state CA, need to keep it legal.
BBK shorty headers (ceramic because the chrome ones dont handle heat as well as the ceramic ones)
3.73 gears and a tuner

Just a curious question:
I have an automatic transmission. How well does an automatic on these cars handle forced induction? Do most people who have forced induction on automatics need to upgrade the internals of the transmission and add a transmission cooler?

Those transmissions are pretty bullet proof actually.

Automatic transmissions are the way to go on a FI car. With a few transmission mods, these can be made to hold good till 800 hp or so. Also, a custom tune can greatly help with transmission points (playing around with torque just before and after its shift gears as I was told) on a high hp car.

The auto Trans is pretty tough and reliable, more than I can say of the MT82. But there are options to upgrade it, like tougher clutch plates, flex plate and a torque converter.
