Change in my gear shifter :/

Hello forums i have an automatic tranny, over the few months of owning my car I've continuously made the mistake of placing change in the gear shifter. it eventually slides down into the hole as pointed out in the picture. It makes a ton of noise while driving lol I removed the center console to remove the change only to the shifter boxed in as shown in the picture.

does anyone have an idea as to how to open up this box safely to remove the change?

Change in my gear shifter :/

Well, I've never removed an automatic shifter before but I'd assume you'd have to remove the top portion of the shift knob and then pry up the plastic cover surrounding the PND321 indicator. Do you see any screws or bolts that may be holding it in place?

Thats what i was thinking, it seems to be a 2 piece box, separating top from bottom and it seems possible to open it up. i don't see any visible screws or bolts on any of the sides

How about in front of the shifter? Any pilot holes or clips that might free up the shifter? I image once you get that off you could try to gently pry at the top cover.

Use the disassembly guide from this shifter for the automatic. Go to Install Guide:
