Best Method to Black Out Tail Lights

Opinions?
I've seen tint, spray, plasti dipped ones. I only want to black out the red part of the taillights. Want to leave the white reverse light part as is.

I've tried both spray and vinyl. I like the vinyl better

Can you apply multiple layers if the first isn't dark enough?

Vinyl tint will be plenty dark enough. You can always go by a tint shop and pick what you want.

Tint, done correctly, looks a lot better than the spray imo.

My dad owns a body shop so I have the luxury of using his equipment. With that said, I've used regular black car paint on the two cars I've had. Just lightly sanding the lights and laying down a few coats of paint and clear. It's come out pretty well. But idk how much it would cost to do a similar shop.

It is, I have it. I honestly wouldn't really recommend it from them. The quality isn't bad, but the fit isn't really exact and it is way overpriced for what you get. One of them (third brake light) bubbled and wrinkled so badly even after popping them with a needle I had to remove it.

Think going to a tint shop and have them do it in whatever percent tint I want is a good idea?

That's probably the best idea. It'd probably be cheaper (depending on how much you do) and better quality overall.

I see what you are saying. I just feel like in the pictures on AM it doesn't look that dark, at least for the 10-12

ID:	167956 american muscle's tint looks good but at first it was all bubbly and people at my school could see it. But after like a month the bubbles went away and it looks like the lights came with the tint installed. As for the dec lid that was off of ebay and not as good as american muscle

I paid a body shop to do my 14 lights. Only spraying the red outline and leaving the white in the middle. Should get my car back next week. I'll post some pics

That would be great. Is it paint or that tint spray?

They mix paint with a clear. Dont know the % but I do know theres more clear then paint. They come out very nice. I'm doing all of my lights except head lights. Tails just enough to conceal the red rings, all marker lights dark dark, then fogs just enough to cover some of the chrome.

Lol. Honestly if I had painting skills I mayyyyy give it a shot but for anyone debating on doing the spray can tint id definitely just pay the extra and have them professionally done. It will look 100x better and you'll be glad you did.

Not exactly sure lol. They charging 550 to install leathers covers, axle backs, spray all lights except headlights, install upper and lower grille and move fog lights behind the grille and closer together. Id say that's a pretty good deal lol
