2013 v6 automatic mustang clunk when re-accelerating

I got a used 2013 mustang from a dealer. The mileage was 34600 when I got it. And after a month, now is 35500. The dealer said they serviced the car before they sale it. Last week I notice the car have a knock sound when I re-accelerate it immediately after a complete stop or very low speed, such as at stop sign. But if I wait 2-3 seconds and accelerate, the sound may not show up. Also sometimes when I accelerate at coasting, the sound may shows up, but it was not very loud. I think it is the problem from transmission. So can anyone tell me what this problem caused by? And How much it will cost to fix it?

Thanks!!!

I believe it is the two piece drive shaft. I may be wrong but I have clunking in the same situations with a manual transmission. Everything I have read points to the drive shaft but I would like to hear what others think

34,000 miles it a lot for a 2013...

But yes I agree with the others, sounds like a driveshaft issue.

It's just slop in the system. Sounds like you're not downshifting, and just trying to take back off in the same higher gear. My GT does it, my moms GT does it, my GFs v6 does it. It just happens. Just pull off in higher Rpms and it should subdue.

Meh. Two piece driveshaft and a transmission almost lifted right out of a 4x4. One thing, though - it's simple and tough engineering. My old 80s 4Runner did the same thing, too. I had to rebuild the rear diff at 380K miles. So all that vibration and noise wasn't hurting anything it seems.

I went to dealer today. And we tested it. They tell me that it is not a transmission problem. It is some thing with pressure. And they said it is not a problem but a normal thing on many mustang. I tried to accelerate after a complete stop, it does not show up. It only happens on creep off.

Is it a manual? If it is you might not be matching your RPM's properly and that's it catching. If not then I would look at the drive shaft.

My 14 does that same thing it's a v6 with 2,300 miles on it. I figured it's normal for mustangs.

my 14 6 speed does this too. pretty much when starting off very slow in 1st gear again, sometimes 2nd. I always read from everyone it's drive line slop and that it's been a Mustang thing this entire generation. just sounds like a random clunk lol

Not only Mustangs

It is the slider two piece drive shaft. Camaro's have the same thing.
Just don't let it worry you because it does not hurt anything. It's just a little annoying.

good to know I don't have to waste mine and the mechanics time to bring it to the dealer for this!
