Exhaust advice

I have gt500 mufflers and was wondering how bbk x pipe and long tune headers would sound?

Will there be any drone?

Any advice please

No, it doesn't. He just likes to throw his car in any thread he can get, no matter how irrelevant.

There wouldn't be any drone. However, they're going to get raspy (with annoying popcorn sound) as fawwk if you're going catless. Even with a set of high flow cats, I can't imagine a smooth sound.

I removed my stock resonators, while my gt500 mufflers sounded just a tad bit loud, I hated their rasp on wot. I still had stock mid pipe and cats.

If you're going with long tubes and x pipes, my suggestion would be to glasspack resonators just before midpipe if you can. Or right after.

Absolutely love my Flowmaster Force II axle backs. Combined with my long tube headers and off road X pipe its like having sex with a porn star every time I drive the car. The flows are sweet music to my ears and love my whole exhaust set up.

Was there drone combined with my 3:73 gears. Yes! Easy fix. I had two glass pack resonators welded on and goodbye drone.

Just out of curiosity and sorry for thread jack: I have read this quite a number of times, why do you get drone after a gear swap? Isnt drone a function of muffler's internal construction?

I didn't want to listen to that drone ***** so I had two glass pack resonators installed and it's perfect now too me.

The Mustang Source Website is complete trash.
That's true you get higher rpms with 3.73 gears, but how do they make your mufflers drone? Could it be that with higher rpms, you tend to drive more in ''sweet spot'' of drone? -as in rpms at which your mufflers are supposed to drone.

Hmm intersting! Still doesn't make sense to me how just an increase in rpms is going to make it drone. So let's say if you have drone at 2800 rpms with 3.73 gears - would you also have drone at same rpm with 2.73/3.31/3.55 gears? Granted you will be going at a different speed.

With 2.73s at my cruising speed of say 110km I'd be in the 13-1800rpm, drone zone. But with 3.73s I'm in the 22-2400rpm, out of the drone zone.

Oh okay makes sense, that's what I was talking about before. With higher rpms, you get bumped up to that sweet spot where it is supposed to drone. But I'm guessing this is more pronounced with certain mufflers that are known to drone - Flowmasters, Roush, bassani etc right?

Take CAI HP gains with a grain of salt. You will be more happy with the look and sound you'll get.

Steeda and Airaid have identical gains, although they're very minor.

Go with what fits your budget or looks the best to you. You aren't sacrificing any power going one over the other.

I run the Airraid. Didn't feel the need to spend extra for the Steeda and I don't like that tube is aluminum. That's worse for heat conduction.

Took about an hour or so. Mostly just because the rubber coupler is a very tight fit. A little tough to get around the throttle body, but with some muscle it's simple.

I'm very happy with my Airraid CAI, absolutely no complaints and have no clue on what my actual power gains were. I'm sure I would of been just as happy with a Steeda CAI but if my memory serves me correctly, the Steeda CAI cost more money.

For me its the sound of the CAI when I'm WOT that has me flowing with joy. I love the sound that thing makes. But that's just me. Totally worth it for the sound alone but I do think there are some power gains.

My white mustang had flows on them but always had a problem with the sound around 45mph. It would just cut out and sound like it was sick.

There is a guy with LTS and catted x with flows on youtube (white mustang). IMO its was the best sounding stang that had LTS. The s-type and touring also sounded really good with LTS, but flows were my favourite. If I go with LTS next year it will most likely be with flows.
