Loud popping w Roush

Is it normal for the Roush axle backs to pop on shift around 3k+ rpm? Sometimes it's a mild popping sometimes it's like a firecracker popping. I can get a loud crack in 2nd in traffic going up to 3500 then coasting too.

It's been the same since I had them installed but my father got me a bit paranoid when he said there may be an exhaust leak causing it.

Loud popping w Roush

Ok good. I rather enjoy it. It's very distinct and unique. My father who is generally pretty knowledgable about cars had me thinking about it.

What is the proper term for that pop. I know it's not backfire. I almost want to say cavitation but I think that's something else.

Dont quote me on this, but im pretty sure its got to do with the bends in the over-axle pipes. I got a 2.5" catback and it makes some pops here and there. Love the sounds

I love it. Makes shifting at 3k great. Even driving through a slow zone like a town, the crackling/popping amplified by the buildings...I love it.

My Roush does it also, I used to really like the popping but it now grows tiresome.

One reason I had to put stock resonators back on. I hated rasp/popping sound coming out of my gt500 mufflers, each time I let go off gas after going wot.

Oh I enjoy it immensely. Don't get me wrong, was just concerned when I heard that an exhaust leak could make similar sounds. Not sure if that's even true.

I don't think so, just take a look at the ring bracket for black soot, that will tell you if it's leaking.

I love that sound but I think I can not get that sound with an auto transmission even if I upgrade the axlebacks regardlass of the exhaust brand. I dont know why but the popping sound only comes from the manuals, at least that's my observation from the youtube videos.

I got a 2011 auto with roush square tips and they pop. Heard it gets less poppy after 3000 miles.

So it seems like roush exhaust pops both in auto and manual. I was thinking of buying borla s types hope it will pop too cause roush is very loud for my taste. I can not see myself brave enough to buy roush eventhough it pops

IMO it's only loud when you are giving it the business. I can sneak around at 5am and dont even make the random jogger turn their heads. But as soon as it time to get on the highway, it's like a ww2 fighter plane. I drive 50-60 miles each way too and from work with the cruise at 75-80mph 90% of the time I can barely tell they are there it's only on inclines in 6th gear when it starts to hum. Around town, I shift around 2250rpm and you can hear it but it's not loud, take to 3kish+ and you get a good roar with popping on shift or engine braking.

My dad refers to them as compression pops. Not sure how accurate the term is

I'm loving mine so far. They are loud when I get on it but not too bad if I'm just driving normal. I like the popping personally
