Non Mechanic Needs Help. Please.

I've been hearing a knock in my rear end for the last month that is getting worse. I removed my spare tire but that wasn't the cause. I crawled underneath and inspected. The mufflers would not knock against anything when I would shake them. I checked the shocks and could see no leaks. The coils appeared to be okay, but couldn't get a great look.

Then I saw a leak!!!! What does this mean (see photo)? Could this be the culprit? And if it is what do I do?

Thank you friends for your insight.
-Sergio

If it is in fact a diff issue have it looked at. The diff is something a lot of driveway mechanics wont even touch, including myself, but for some one with no mechanical ability just have a pro look at. Warranty??

Changing diff fluid is fairly easy, but that looks like a worn seal.

As for the OP, when you do have that fixed, I'd opt for an aftermarket diff cover with fill / empty holes. It will make life easier later.

Is that 38,000 miles or 64,000, because drivetrain is 5 years 60,000 miles

Try taking it to the dealer anyway. Explain the problem and maybe the will fix it for "good will."

Nothing to lose.
