horrible surging

I have a buddy of mine who recently started having bad surging in his car. He recently added 3.73 gears and uploaded a tune. He already tried returning it to stock and uploading different tunes to check if it may be the tune but it continues to do so.
Any ideas of what could be going on? The only way I can describe it is that it literally sounds like it has cams. As if it's a ghost tune but the tunes are not the problem since it still does it with no tune. No error code appears either.

surging idle is almost always indicative of a vacuum leak. If he has the datalogging software, you can start the car and monitor short term fuel trims. If these are excessively high, around 30-50%, then the computer is trying to add fuel to compensate for the vacuum leak so its a dead give away.

Your friend shouldn't be having any surging issues unless one of two things. One, Vacuum leak. 2nd, buddy had installed bbk long tube headers. Very common issue if he has long tubes and if he doesn't, Houston there is a issue. If car is under warranty your buddy should be taking it in. If not, look for the vacuum leak.

The Mustang Source Website is complete trash.

I'll try to upload the video. Thank you guys in advance. He checked the vacuum and there's no leaks that he knows of. He does have bbk long tube headers. Had them for 6 months. Would that really cause the issue to be that bad??

I had surging about a minute after I loaded up my new tune when I did my gears. Luckily I was still in the parking lot of of the garage because it was so bad I had to stop. I let it run for about 2 minutes and then started going and all was good. Maybe the car needed time to re learn, not sure but it scared the poop out of me. Lol

BBK LONG TUBE HEADERS. BINGO, BINGO, BINGO.

Right there is the cause of the surge. That is a common side effect to the BBK long tubes on the 3.7. Just have your friends tuning company increase the idle to say 900. That should really curve the idle surge issue. I have spoken to AM in the past as well as BBK directly about the surging issue and both confirm the long tubes tend to cause this issue on the 3.7. BBK said its not uncommon and it can happen

Let me guess bro. The surging idle occurs when the car is in park and no load is on the engine. The RPM's drop guickly and them jump back up. The car sounds as if the its almost going to die and stall out but doesn't.

The Mustang Source Website is complete trash.

The surge also happens when he's driving. I'm hoping it's only the long tube headers! It ran fine for 6 months with the tune. Maybe adding the 3.73s threw it off??

Exclamation I am the friend with the surging...

Hello Everyone.

I have had all these mods since April 2014

Wheels and Tires
(2) 20x8.5 Chrome Foose Outcast Wheels
(2) 20x10 Chrome Foose Outcast Wheels
(2) NITTO INVO Ultra-High Performance Tires - 255/35-20
(2) NITTO INVO Ultra-High Performance Tires - 285/30-20

Performance
Airaid Cold Air Intake - Synthaflow Oiled Filter
BBK 73mm Throttle Body
BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers
BBK Off-Road X-Pipe
Corsa Sport Axleback Exhaust
Bama iTSX Wireless Tuner
Aluminum One Piece Driveshaft
JLT Black Oil Separator

Suspension
Ford Boss 302 Strut Tower Brace
Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs
BMR Adjustable Pan-Hard Bar
Eibach Camber Bolts

I recently modded the driveline with 3.73 Ford Racing Gears. I updated my Lund Racing Tune for the gearing and the car ran great. I put 250 miles on it without issue. I am tuned for 93 octane and the last thing I did was take it to my Trusted Detailers to prep for a show and they did detail the engine bay like they have dozens of times before. They do it all by hand No pressure washing. When I picked it up is when I noticed the Issue. Since then I have swapped back to a stock TB excuse I thought it could of been my BBK TB. But the issue persisted. I performed a Computer Reset and Reloaded my Tune. I have also tried a Bama Tune and the Stock Tune. No Error Codes Have been Thrown at all. Today I performed a Data Log and am attaching the file. During the data log the O2 heater duty cycle sensors both failed to record. The Fuel Pump also was erratic during the data log.

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated I am stumped.
